Re: Question to Editor.

I'd imagine it largely depends on what you consider to be "significant".

Re: Criminal Girls 2 is heading your way!

I guess this can be directed at everyone who thinks that we're lying: ask yourselves why would even do that. What could possibly be gained by officially publishing material claiming that we spoke to the ESRB if we didn't actually speak with them? It sure couldn't be money; we don't gain more sales ...

Re: Criminal Girls 2 is heading your way!

Luckily NISA's in the fortunate position of not being required to provide proof of what the ratings boards say. From what they've said it doesn't sound like they'd spend money on a second uncensored version of the game even if it did get approved by one of the many ratings boards they submit to or e...

Re: Criminal Girls 2 is heading your way!

The problem isn't the ESRB as much as their single version policy. Even if the ESRB agreed it wasn't AO they would censor their single version if there was any chance the other ratings boards they submit to would rate it AO. At the end of the day they're a business, and low-risk profits are #1. It w...

Re: Criminal Girls 2 is heading your way!

I don't know if we have an "official" stance on this, but I can tell you that typically, we submit to ESRB, USK, PEGI, and OFLC ratings boards, and we only create one version of the game. Thus, we have to take into account the guidance of all ratings boards to ensure that the game can be ...

Re: Missing a lot of Peon Voices

So you willingly cut a ton of voices out of the game because you didn't want to bother explaining the partial dub -- something that NISA fans are already extremely familiar with? Why not mark them JPN or just offer them for free? You could have still kept the first 10 voices dual audio.

Re: Missing a lot of Peon Voices

So you Ar Tonelico 2'd it? I thought the feedback from that move was pretty negative?

Missing a lot of Peon Voices

There should be 80 peon voices purchasable at various levels of the Mugen Field. Am I missing some requirement or did NISA cut 90% of Japanese peon voices out of the game? Edit: Never mind the second part -- they said they weren't cutting/toning down other elements of the game besides the bathing mi...

Re: (Mugen Souls Z) Mugen Field Freezing

A dev build won't play on a consumer console. You need to make a build that will run on the production environment. All I'm saying is that you test your final product as it's meant to be used before distribution. Thought this was common sense no matter what field you're working in.

Re: (Mugen Souls Z) Mugen Field Freezing

They missed an easily catchable bug causing this whole fiasco and people are still saying it's useless to test the product as it's intended to be used? Dev tools are great, but you always need to test on prod, no matter what field you're in. Dev tools/environments aren't foolproof.

Fair enough. It's their choice to cut corners if they want to.

Re: (Mugen Souls Z) Mugen Field Freezing

Either they didn't bother to test the final build on a consumer console, or they half-assed it. It is very strange that it wasn't caught. It's a problem that should be resolved immediately, but ultimately it's up to NISA. I understand that doing things the right way is often more expensive.

Re: (Mugen Souls Z) Mugen Field Freezing

I'm glad they're fixing it, but there is no reason this freeze/lock should have ever been in the game in the first place. Once the game is finalized you need to test the game on the actual hardware. This is not some obscure, low occurrence bug. Hopefully they're making some changes in their QA Depar...

Re: Bugs/random crashes - why does this keep happening?

I wasn't talking mid-development. I agree that you need debug units for that. even if you "found" a bug on a retail unit, and then even replicated said bug, because you are using a retail unit, there's no way to see the code logs. Which means you can replicate a bug as many times as you wa...

Re: Bugs/random crashes - why does this keep happening?

Houk, has your QA Team ever considered testing the final build on consumer consoles before printing and releasing them to the public? It might help catch really obvious bugs like the MSZ one.
