I was aware of the problems with AT2's localization, does anyone have the links to NISA's response(s)? I'm interested in reading them.

People might take you more seriously if your name wouldn't be betaflame

I get the feeling I'm missing something here.

Also I only found the Raki bug, but I'd seen that and it didn't affect me anyway : http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=898 ... Id=6011456

well, to an average reader, the combination of your name and you bringing up the AT2 issue again like it's been brought up before many many times now, could lead them to believe you'd be a flamer or a troll =D

I find that it's best not to try to guess anything about someone from their username.

I know the issue was contentious, but I was not able to find NISA saying anything about the quality of specifically the translation, only the Raki bug.

This doesn't totally follow the on-going conversation, but I just wanted to mention that I really, really hope Ar tonelico 3 gets the best translation ever. Having just finished it in Japanese, I can say that the Ar tonelico trilogy has such an amazing story, and AT3 gives it the beautiful ending it deserves.

I actually really loved AT2 as a game, but I had to stop playing it several times because the translations pissed me off too frequently LOL which is why I decided to just play AT3 in JP without waiting for NISA. Now that I'm done, though, I really honestly hope it gets a wonderful translation so everyone here can enjoy it as much as I did. ;3;/

Ar tonelico: Qoga apparently slated for Spring 2011 release ala The O Network's Twitter Page.

Thanks to Kari, I have learned that Qoga means "end" or "demise" in Hymmnos, which isn't a bad subtitle. So I guess this might either not be the full title (although it has been said that it is) or that it is and they'll have to edit the actual already existing logo quite a bit since they're dropping the III and Qoga isn't long enough to fit in that little line under the "Ar tonelico" logo itself. XD

I think a good title for the game should be Ar tonelico III: Qoga.

Kind of disappointing that it's yet another Gust localization that will take over a year from its Japanese release, but not unexpected.

What would make me really happy is some sort of confirmation of Nick being given the primary script editing position...

Well most RPGs have big stories, big item lists, and skits/talk topics/ect that make a huge amount of text to translate. Unless an RPG is done by a big company, one year is the average localization time I've seen.

The industry average Japan->US release gap for RPGs is along the lines of 6-8 months. NISA's first party, Hitmaker, and Compile Heart game release schedules fall under this, as do Atlus' (though Atlus' first party games are usually 6 months, their licenses are the ones that take around 8 months).

For some reason Gust releases need 4-6 months on top of the average, except Atelier Annie, curiously.

I would venture that the complexity and sheer amount of dialog in Ar Tonelico games might have something to do with it.

I don't get the Qoga bit, is that just their codename for it or are they actually bothering to change the title?

Qoga is hymmnos (the series' own language) for end if I recall correctly. The full title is Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel.
