My tribute to the Ar Tonelico Series

Postby kranix » Mon Apr 25, 2011 5:19 pm

First off, I am a cosplayer (the what we call normal kind, aka NOT the hyper crazy fanboy/girl type). I regularly attend convention and design costumes for them. I have been an Ar Tonelico fan for quite some time and found it rather disappointing that not many people have attempted the costumes from this game, especially considering the mass variety of female outfits (courtesy of cosmospheres!). Even those that I have found on cosplay.com and other site are fairly basic and missing a lot of stuff.

Hence to show my appreciation for this awesome series, I busted my butt over the past many months, putting all my design and material knowledge accumulated thus far, into making the armor for Lyner Barsett! I did not allow myself any shortcuts of any kind, so that I put the level of effort into this costume that I feel it deserved.

I recently attended Anime Detour 2011 in Minneapolis and won Best Workmanship for my efforts. I thought I would share some pics with fellow Ar Tonelico fans.

I only linked one photo, so as not to spam the forums and create long load times. If you want to check out the rest of the album, here's the link for it. Enjoy :)

Sure, I think I have already put up all these photos into one of my albums on Facebook already. I dunno if I can link to that one or not.

Oh wow, that's simply amazing... Definitely one of the better costumes I've ever seen.

That is one impressive work, and this is coming from someone who usually loathes cosplay.

Great details on the suit, for one. Truly worthy of that award.

Holy cow, those are some awesome cosplays. I love how much work went into creating the suit. That Luca cosplay is hot~

If I had more money, I'd definitely travel to more conventions and show off Lyner some more. Right now I am trying to save up to add Dragon-Con to my list of cons this year.
