The popular Steins;Gate adventure game, which has seen release on PSP, Xbox 360, and PC, is getting an 8-bit remake on Windows. That means retro visuals like this:

...why would you remake a game to something less than it originally was, on the exact same system?

To nab the hopeless retro-gamers?

Or to make more money from the same script.

Yes it would be certainly one of the nicer virtual Novels to see, but if the anime is sort of close to the game I can bear it. Watched it till episode 16 so far. Hope I do not end up to make the impression of promoteing the side but crunchyroll currently sends the anime series and is up to episode 16 so far. The whole plot of the series is just great so far.

I am hoping games like this have a better chance of coming out now that 999 sold well for Aksys. So I hope NISA will do the same & bring out more visual Novels.

I wonder when NISA's going back to Visual Novels. They did as good as they could with Disgaea Infinite, and there are plenty of Visual Novels out there that NISA could easily tackle, the only problem is that the good ones are on the PSP (NISA doesn't want PSP games anymore) and the 360 (NISA haven't done a single 360 title as of yet).

I'd wager they won't go back to VNs ever again. I'm looking to Aksys for those.
Waiting on the other mk2 avatars.

Problem is Aksys isn't by far the most appropriate company for such long and text-heavy titles. Scripts are often dull and full of typos.

I'd take a dull, typo-ridden script as long as the game was localized.

But yeah, unfortunately, I don't think NISA's going to be doing any more VNs anytime soon, despite the massive fan demand for them in the states. :< It would be great, though, if they did. I guess all we can do is wait and see what NISA has to say about it, huh?

I'll still support this VN 100%. Staying positive and gathering support is the best thing we can do!

It probably wouldn't cost toooooo much to license, but do you have any idea how much text is in that game? It would be a Trails in the Sky situation all over again! And we've already got one such situation to worry about -- we really don't need another!

The series is pretty big right now, though, so it might just be worth the MONTHS AND MONTHS OF TORMENT. Definitely one we'll look into, at least. (:

(Personally, I'm more intrigued by Steins;Gate 8-Bit... but I think the market for that might be just a bit TOO niche! Heheheheheh)
