Of course, there are exceptions. Xseed published The Sky Crawlers: The Innocent Aces earlier this year and retailers are saving shelf space for Hudson’s Beyblade games. Still, the lack of retail interest could explain why anime licensed titles are less common. Publishers, perhaps, may want to release them, but stores don’t want ‘em

.... Selective reading troubles? It helps when you read what you quote. Unless your saying The Sky Crawlers is a major franchise is America, which it could be for all I know.

And yes you said :

If its a GAME and a manga property they wont bring it to america. Knowbody will.

Yes its not likely that billions of anime games not called DBZ will start going overseas however its crap to start knocking down everything based on personal opinion alone.

I feel better now.

Yes beylade was for a time like yuigoh and was highly popular amongst little kids. Its not as popular anymore.

And 1 exception for 1 game isnt a good way to prove your point especially when that game didnt sell well.

Retailers dont want manga games on the shelves. Thats it.

Selective reading troubles indeed. Should I enlarge the text for you?

How many "1 exception" exceptions is needed to change your mind? Whether you like it or not it did happen and it therefore is possible for more. I also take it you know what "selling well" equals?

Like the The Sky Crawlers: The Innocent Aces not getting on shelves?

Not to mention NISA has never localized a manga game and lets entertain the thought they do......there are better games than white album. And if they do in some realm of possibility, the game would be guarenteed to make a loss . Sounds like they would jump right on that.

Disgaea Infinite.

Hirameki used to localize eroge awhile ago, but yeah, there really is no market. Disgaea Infinite was probably localized by the way of Disgaea's name. The western fans will just wait for a translation patch to come along. I don't know much about White Album, but I remember HIrameki asking Key if they could localize CLANNAD... and they wanted something like 1 million yen.

I have the localizations of Kana and Ever17, though. Still, if a game has a translation patch and I'm able to afford it without going through a deputy service to purchase off Yahoo Japan (in which somebody has bought the game and is selling it on there, the deputy service purchases it and sends it to you--doesn't feel like you're actually supporting the company in the long run) I'd buy more and show my support.

There's also another thing where, the eroge/galge scene in Japan is also quite small. I'd say it's below that of rhythm games and shmups. This leads to them costing up to 9,800 yen each, because they know they won't be selling them in masses like Nintendo's stuff.

Actually, Hirameki didn't localize eroge. Also, eroge make up about 25% of all PC game sales in Japan. That's nothing to sniff at.

If it matters, I also support this topic. I'd love for a game like White Album to be localized, and it's doubtful JAST USA or Mangagamer are up to the task (JAST USA only does eroge, and Mangagamer only does digital releases).

Well Mangagamer did make disc copies of Higurashi for Anime Expo but of course that was their 1st attempt though. Plus I don't know I just don't see them or JAST doing it except for maybe the original PC version. Besides like if it's Mangagamer still have to import but be in Europe.

The original White Album for PC came out in 1998. For compatibiilty reasons (among others), JAST would never localize a game that old. Mangagamer likely wouldn't either. But more importantly, JAST or Mangagamer would have to strike a new deal with Leaf to do so--in the eroge localization business, finding new partners is difficult and doesn't happen too often.

Of course, the PS3 version doesn't have much of a chance of getting localized either, considering SCEA's stance of visual novels "not being games". Still, the production values associated with this remake give it somewhat of an edge.

Regarding Mangagamer, it remains to be seen if they'll implement physical copies out of conventions. I sort of doubt it, considering their statements on the matter so far. They likely brought physical copies just because they knew they wouldn't be able to generate any sales at the convention otherwise--definitely a smart move on their part, and evidence that their business sense is continually improving.

Spoilers:

When the games are localized, people usually edit and revise scenes to make it appropriate for gamers. Take it for Kingdom Hearts 2 - where the pirates in JPN version had guns, but in US version they use crossbow with rubber darts at you. This also happened for other RPG games that removed content where they believed it's a bit too eroge and adult content for viewers/gamers. (Not Persona 3+4 though - ....Mara)

Damn, we had a chance for Clannad to come over? Key.....why be so .... stingy on price like that? You could have started a trend. :(....

Anywho, Clannad was indeed one of the bigger ones out there, so I think if any VN were to sell, Clannad would, if given the chance.

LIFE 3~
I am going to revive this topic, because I did not realize that this was the game I saw a preview for on the JP Store way back when that I really wanted. Now that I remember what this is, I will put forth my efforts on this.

I love dating sims, and I wish that we would get more over here. This one has much more bearing because all the ero stuff has pretty much been axed, so there's no worry about that. (Even though there are many games out there that show MUCH more than this game. Like God of War or Dante's Inferno)

By the way, compared to Agarest's CG (the PS3 version) how ero is the White Album CG?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Album_(visual_novel)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_E ... ganization

Agarest War is rated 15+, White Album (PS3) is rated 17+ in Japan. That should provide some insight into the "ecchiness".
