Dude, you SEEEEEERIOUSLY need to calm down. I checked all your posts and almost every one of them is bashing Rorona like it kicked your puppy or something. Good God.

Well depending on what you disliked about Rorona, this may definitely not be the game for you.

You beat me to it...LOL...If you don't like Rorona, odds are you're not going to like anything with the word "Atelier" in the name, except for maybe the Atelier Iris and the Mana Khemia series, which aren't really a good set of games to represent the Atelier games on a whole...LOL

Sorry for the double post, I seriously don't want to see this thread get buried...I just looked at the site again and it just makes me want it oh-so badly...

But seeing the kind of game it is for the PSP (which wouldn't it make it a cheap game to bring over at this point?) and it's an otome game, I guess we have to see how Hakuoki goes in the states...

I really do hope they'll release more info on the gameplay soon. Only 4 months til the release, so they could at least put up some screenshots of actual in-game footage and not just event scenes.

..... I do like those event scene images tho..... ;>

You do realize that could be what the gameplay is right?

You do realise that the game probably won't be a slide show of pretty images, right? ;>

Even if it would be a straight ADV game (or visual novel, if you'd like) event scene images do not count as in-game screens, which usually contain background images, character images and text boxes. Do you see any of those there? And as it was mentioned before, the game includes alchemy and item gathering. I do believe that counts as gameplay. And it's about time they showed us some of that.

Well, it says it's a 'text-adventure'

Also, they might be holdign off on that so it can be some big surprise at some point or something

This game is also considered a "text-adventure" by the same company (minus Gust's involvement):

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-43- ... -3910.html

Just to point out that "text-adventure" is a rather broad genre for the Japanese...

I'm pretty sure they just want to tease us with not showing in-game footage yet. ;> Hopefully the next B's Log or some of the other otome magazines will have some more info on it. :)

I don't think you quiiiiite understand what the Otomate games "are". Especially since they're classed as "AVGs", the game is pretty much gonna be a slide show in all likelihood, yeah. There MIGHT be some alchemy in there, somewhere, but don't even expect it to be anything like the handheld Ateliers, never mind something like Totori. It's all talking, pretty pictures and letting the female players swoon over the guys.

Have they actually explained the title yet? Because the name of the heroine sure as hell isn't "Elkrone".

I haven't heard much about it. They've updated the page with characters, but I'm illiterate when it comes to the Japanese language, and I don't think it's been translated any...so what info they've put on their page is beyond me.

You surely seem to have a very different definition of Japanese Adventure Games compared to mine. Tho I do believe it was more you being all snarky (in the annoying kind of way) instead of you actually thinking that this game will be a huge PSP wallpaper collection.

I very well do know what kind of games this company called Otomate (or rather Idea Factory) usually produces. You on the other hand don't seem to know their games very well. Keeping their flagship titles Hakuouki & Hiiro no Kakera aside, which both are visual novel games without any kind of gameplay besides the occasional choice to get a certain route (tho, there might be mini games in the sequels, not too sure on that) - Otomate has quite a few games with gameplay elements. Wand of Fortune, Kanuchi & Hanayaki are just a few examples of Otomate's collection of games that involve certain kinds of gameplay. From stat raising to answering tests correctly to actual running around in maps and gathering items (and to make my point even more clear, watch this from 2:50 on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8wx08uoIm0). Kanuchi not only involves the gathering of items, but also has you forge weapons and sell them afterwards.

I have no idea why you are thinking I'm expecting a normal Atelier game here, I am fully aware that this will be an Atelier x Otome game, but as an otome gamer and RPG lover and a fan of the Atelier series, this is exactly what I'm wanting. I'd love to swoon over some deliciously drawn boys while doing some alchemy. But especially since Gust is involved in this, I am indeed expecting a little more gameplay than just hitting the circle button over and over. Actually, I could imagine it to be quite a lot like Atelier Annie just with a lot more dialogue, but Annie certainly had quite the otome game vibe, with all the timed events and the requirements for the different endings and raising the friendship through battling with certain characters (and triggering more character based events with it)... I never played Totori, since I have no PS3, but even tho they went to 3D you still have the 2D character portraits with the text windows which actually makes the game(s) look very ADV'esque already. There are also character based endings, aren't there? (Or epilogues or whatever.. I've been avoiding all these character ending videos on youtube).

You guys over here certainly do not have played many otome games involving more gameplay, so let me recommend a few games to you: The whole Harukanaru Toki no Naka de series (turn based RPG otome games), Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side (stat raising sim with a few mini games as well - 1 & 2 have been fantranslated to English), Hoshizora no Comic Garden (otome game / mangaka sim, lots of drawing minigames), Kurayami no Hate de Kimi o Matsu (point & click mystery puzzle solving otome game) and... seriously, there's so many otome games with lots of gameplay.

All I want to know right now is how exactly Otomate & Gust will be handling it in the Elkrone game..

On a completely different note, some information was just released about the game that I happened to notice purely by chance.

Apparently Atelier Elkrone is a Salburg game.

http://blog.esuteru.com/archives/5081149.html

Marie, Elie and the Salburg version of Hagel are all showing up in Elkrone. It's virtually confirmed to be set in Salburg. This would make Elkrone the first new game set in the classic Atelier universe in a decade. This is kind of a surprise given that it was originally indicated that Elkrone would be set in its own little universe.

I have no idea how to feel about this!

Also it looks like Elie's outfit has been redesigned a bit, partially because the artist doesn't seem to know how to handle Elie's travel mantle, so she was given a shawl instead :V She's also lost the stupid neck-brace thing, though, which I can hardly complain about.

Of course, in retrospect this should've been kinda obvious, given who shows up on the "What's Atelier" part of the website and the lettering of the logo (which is the exact same custom font as Elie and Lilie's logos).

Also the release date was pushed back to March of 2012, it looks like.

Wow, that was a bit unexpected...I wish I had patience with imports because I'm interested in the older Atelier games. This does intrigue me a bit...

Sucks it got pushed back though...
