I'd argue the yuri's been there the whole time, but what actually happened, yeah that was the first fanservice in a while.

It's just really fun, and it's not really all that much mecha fighting.

She seems to have gotten super amnesia'd though. Possibly even gotten a mental age reversion. Whatever she caused back then, must have really screwed her psyche.
