I think their intended purpose was to build suspense above all rather than to stall. On a side note, I totally called who Cyan Pile was...

I imagine most people correct in guessing his identity. It sure didn't help that he showed up in a blue tracksuit after the conversation at the cafe.

I'm referring to the entire episode, not any particular scene. I was expecting the Taku reveal to happen before the commercial break... although, in hindsight, I guess most of the scenes themselves were necessary, so condensing anything would just mean Haru challenges Taku and we get to see them banter a bit in the Accel World before the episode ends. I don't know, I just feel like things *could* be progressing more quickly than they are.

I kind of think of the beginning just showing how much distrust he had in people. But yeah, i really didn't like him at all at first.

I've only seen the first episode. I wouldn't say that I like him, but I'm glad that he's at least dissatisfied with his current situation and doesn't like being bullied. Rather than being, say, Shu from Guilty Crown, where he just goes into an emo fit about how nobody likes him.

Maybe I remembered differently, but I thought the battle between Haru and Taku took a fairly long time, which was why I was apprehensive about the pacing of the show. However, that felt pretty complete, it didn't feel like anything was rushed or skipped. I guess that's good.

Manga spoilers, we don't actually find out what WHN's real name is >_> Manga is only translated through the next arc, though, so hopefully we do find out. I was contemplating Kuroi Yuki or, unimaginatively, Kuroyuki Hime.

Anyway, awesome episode, and it just gets better from here!
