If you could make your own Neptunia game...

Postby FireDatPrinneh » Tue Aug 27, 2013 4:00 am

If you could make your own Neptunia fangame or mini-fangame, what kind of game and genre would it be? And how would the game work? All types of games are allowed to be discussed as long as they do not fall under the 18+(or eroge) genre.

Well, to start it off, if I were able to make my own Neptunia fangame, I would make a Neptunia fighting game with styles to those of the 'Marvel vs Capcom' games.

If I were to make my own game, it would be the most similar to the Dynasty Warriors series. The game will feature five stories based on each faction (Planeptune, Leanbox, Lowee, Lastation, and the ASIC/ Seven Sages alliance). Each one will feature two different endings; one will be the standard true, happy end, while the other one may fall slightly into conquest territory. Also, while probably impossible now, if I had full control over it, I would bring all characters back for this title, to fill out the roster (there will be new faces, too).

Ooh, I've shared this idea before but let's go down the rabbit hole again.

Story:
Spoiler:
One day, in G.C 2012, a structural fault in the Neptower takes out the electricity for the entire structure. It's fixed but Neptune, Nepgear and Histoire are left with one problem; the overwhelming repair bill. As they brainstorm for ideas on how to fix it, Nepgear comes up with one that makes Histoire and Neptune listen: hold a hoverboard racing tournament across Gamindustri.

Unfortunately, no businesses want to fund them with race tracks and equipment. Noire, Vert and Blanc, upon hearing about and agreeing with Nepgear's idea, provide the race tracks but run into the dilemma of running out of hoverboards. Uni then provides an idea of her own: the CPUs and CPU Candidates transform into hoverboards that can be used by the racers for the events.

Unfortunately unfortunately, the only hoverboard racer they have is a new Maker provided for this game and she's unavailable by virtue of being DLC (something that makes Neptune cry "Come on, Compile Heart! Throw us a bone here! I know we're all strong but we actually NEED the extra help this time! Please be charitable just this once!"). Therefore, IF and Compa round up the other Makers for this racing extravaganza despite none of them having any prior experience. Fortunately, they don't need to worry about that; the CPUs can handle the driving. All the Makers need to do is look cool. With an objective in sight, hopefully they'll make enough money to pay the repair bills and then some.

Meanwhile, however, Linda is reunited with a certain someone and decides to enter the race. Abnes also bears witness to the race and is horrified at the potential physical injuries so she asks Rei to help her out with the racing.

Gameplay:
Spoiler:
Racers are just avatars and don't have any standing on the abilities of the player. What has the real stats are the CPUs-as-boards that correlate to their abilities: Neptune has high speed but low acceleration along with a magnificent boost that expires all too quickly, Noire's a jack of all stats with above average acceleration and turning and her boost, while moderate, lasts the longest. Blanc's slow but turns easily and is hardly slowed by terrain while Vert has astounding speed and acceleration but can't turn for crap. Ram and Rom have quickly regenerating and powerful boosts but otherwise low stats (with the exception of turning), Uni's got a great drift and Nepgear's the opposite of her sister in that she prioritises acceleration.

Actually, Makers do have some abilities; they provide the special attacks. Unlike Mario, every racer has a unique set of skills to help their CPUs win (Nisa can throw multiple knives at once and use a heroic speech to improve the board's toughness, MAGES. can refill the board's boost and shoot projectiles that home slightly, etc.) and they have these abilities inherently rather than gather them from spots on the track. With all the combinations, also, there are unique animations for every situation.

Each race can have up to eight players and they take place on a variety of environments. There are different racing modes but the main story revolves around getting more money. To get more money, you need to get more viewers. To get more viewers, you need to entice them. Perform stunts. If you can, take a snapshot of your character's panties in mid-flip (yes, there is a camera mode). In short, be spectacular. Get those viewers!

EDIT: Added to the gameplay.

Huh, I like this idea...

How many environments could there be?

Let's see... Planeptune, Lowee, Lastation, Leanbox, Mountains, Forest, Factory, Theme Park (maybe Lowee could repurpose the roller coaster?), Volcano, Data Dimension, Hex Land, possibly others...

So will this game be more like Mario Kart or Sonic Riders? Or something completely different?

This is Neptunia! What did you expect?! Why do you think I chose hoverboards, anyway?! I'm at least faithful to the series' themes no matter how buggered they may be!

I understand, I'm just messin. Thought I'm a little surprised you go with it, but ah well.

If only someone who make this idea into a real game, sounds good.

Please stop writing so small; it's really annoying and it strains my eyes.

Platinum, though? Well, if they made it like God Hand, then sure.

Sorry, it's a habit.

I was actually thinking more like Bayonetta, since it can keep the fanservice elements up and running.

I was thinking more in terms of gameplay. Compared to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Bayonetta, God Hand is much more visceral.
