European language options?

Postby Nerroth » Fri Sep 28, 2012 10:00 am

Before I go on, I should clarify that I am not asking about the Japanese dub (which won't be in the European version, as noted in the other thread).

Rather, I wanted to ask whether or not any of the major non-English languages in Europe, such as French or German, will get a version of the game (or, at least, of the text) translated into one (or more) of those languages; or if the only version NISA are planning on will be in English only (and in American English, for that matter; no adding "u" to "colour", etc).

One thing that occurred to me is that, if a French version could be done, it might be something that could be offered here in North America; at least, for players in places like Québec who wanted to get a French-language version of the game. (Similarly, if a Spanish version was done, it would be viable for both Spain and the Spanish-speaking territories in the Americas.)

Of course, I would understand if there will be no such language options planned; but I wanted to ask all the same.

Read the other thread. Houk already said that this will pretty much be the same as the NA version. English audio only.

Yup, English only planned. Sadly, the market for this type of game in those languages just isn't big enough to justify the resources it would take to translate. (And for this particular title, that wouldn't have been our call to make anyway.)

Houk, can you at least confirm that Way of the Samurai 4 is getting additional languages? I've seen the french splash-page, maybe the game won't be only in english.

You don't seem to have any trouble with English...

Not the point, and that doesn't add anything to the conversation.

Anyway, I doubt it, a game can have promotional materials in multiple languages without the game itself being in them, and I doubt they have the funds and time to translate everything into French. Though I could be wrong.
