Hi everyone! I was just wondering some things. What's new in Golden and how does it make the game better?

New story events, new character, new Personas, and some other stuff that I forget what they were. I suppose you could add playing Persona 4 on the go is another feature for it.

I don't think the point in ports is to make it better than the original since it's the same game but with added stuff to it that is nice to see that you won't find in the original.

Only now have I worked out what was meant by that.
Yeah, it doesn't, and the opening itself is incredibly trippy and like its been stolen from the Beatles.
Love the harmonica though, it's even better in its full form.

As a general rule, most lyrics in Persona are English, only a few songs in 3 had anything else in them (the endings being mostly Japanese, and FES's opening being party Japanese due to incorporating part of the main game's ending), though the school music for the second term was in French for some reason.

Never played Persona before. Mostly because someone tricked me into thinking they were more heavily tied to old SMT games that never came over here than they actually were. Also, I refused to buy a PS2 game in 2008.

Golden will be my first.

Not sure what the linking has to do with it, (and it's only marginally relates to the previous Persona games as it is), seeing as they hold up incredibly well on their own.
Saying you won't buy a game just because of its age or platform is a bit narrow-minded, considering how damn good they are.
There's a PSP version of 3 anyway, sans The Answer and cutscenes (it plays more like visual novel because of this), but plus a female main character with all the changes to the social links that makes.

You also want to play 3 before 4 by all accounts, as otherwise it will feel like a massive step backwards.

Everyone I've talked to (aka a lot of people) say 4 is vastly superior to 3.

3's still worth playing though, 4 may be better, but that doesn't mean 3 still isn't amazing in its plot department (the gameplay one, less so, workable, but a bit dungeon-crawl-y, fine if you enjoy that sort of thing though).

I suggest getting Persona 3 FES from the PSN Store before deciding if Persona 3 is good or not.

But anyways Persona 4 PS2 Opening http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4X3DB8rYhxE

So far I witnesses:
A new social link "jester" connected to Adachi
social link "aeon" redirected to Marie, a new resident Velvet room
two new locations, beach and city
scoooter to ride
new clothes for characters
changes in gameplay, now you can choose cards not try hit them in roulette
skill cards can be added to personas
you choose persona skills to be given in fusion
you can give skill cards to Marie and buy them without limits
in evening you can meet people and improve relations , but without going higher in social link
is much more books to read

still play my first time, so I think I meet more changes
