Re: Gameplay - Actually Really Good?

Something must be wrong with me. It's like all of a sudden...I blame Neptunia for this, every time an NIS published game is released in the West, I immediately hope for 4 kinds of DLC: Bonus dungeons, events, characters and...swimsuits. So yeah, I saw CG images of Toki and Towa wearing bikinis. My inner mini-Blue dragon had been awakened.

Curse you Neptunia series for blessing/spoiling me with 2D sexiness and swimsuit DLCs!

Oh dear. I must be losing my mind. Being single for 2 years to affect on me.

I think those CGs are already in the game, actually... ^^ Well, it's all good.

Hmm, hopefully the swimsuits can be earned or bought in game and not via DLC. My wallet would be thankful.

I don't know if they have any alternate outfits or not... that could be quite a lot of additional animating. o_O Haven't really checked into that...

Never really thought about it, but yeah alternate costumes seem like they would be a lot of work considering everything is 3D animation. Wouldn't it basically be a complete remake of whatever the scene is just to have anything like that different? I don't exactly get how the development process works but i'm guessing 3D character models are easier to work with when adding more variety.

Hence why most sprite-based games avoid having equipment show on the wielder, as it suddenly multiplies the workload.

Well, moreso than 3D stuff. Which is one of the reasons why sprites are not so popular nowadays...

Some people enjoy giving money to their favorite companies and are okay with getting a price higher than the lowest possible version. More money means bigger budgets, which means larger and better games from them in the future. Or... something like that, anyway. For some people. ^^

They animated it in what's basically a traditional animation style, I think... like, by hand. Or something.

So instead of just rendering/drawing a new outfit (like the way we can apply customized clothes to characters in Neptunia), they'd have to draw each outfit for -every single frame- the character had, which is a considerably more time-consuming task. That's what I understand, anyway... but even without a ton of DLC, there should be plenty of fun content within the game. ^^

Oh well. CG images and/or cutscenes will have to do. Toki, Towa and the other "legal" ladies are sexy enough in their default outfits anyway, so it won't be a major loss if there aren't any bonus costumes.

Looking at LL's stream, though... it appears the main menu has a "Download Shop" option. Maybe there -is- something extra here... *Scratches head and makes a note to research later*

They appear to be bonus events and maybe an extra character to talk to...or something.

Sounds good, but there's two things in that article that make me quite curious.

1.
If you purchase the game’s theme song CD, you'll get the “Treasure Excavation! Hot Springs of Kanza feat. Toki” download content

I wonder what our chances are of getting that DLC if it's an exclusive to a theme song CD. It sounds like it's a separate purchase rather than a pre-order exclusive, and from what I can tell there hasn't been any game where the West gets any DLC that came from Famitsu, or Dengeki, buying a separate CD makes it seem even less likely.

2.
There are also plans to distribute three “Peppers” for free so you can change the heroine’s personality (to Toki or Towa) without having to level up.

So while nothing has been confirmed yet, i'm assuming this means you won't be able to freely switch between Toki or Towa if you're already at the level cap. Not that this will be an immediate issue, but it's definitely something that will probably happen during post game or multiple playthroughs.

I think you can also buy/find the items in-game...?

The Hot Springs DLC sounds pretty fun, though. XD

As much as uptight critics scoff "Anime tradition" episodes/scenarios (Hot Spring, Beach, Bathhouse, mountain river, etc) the average person (usually male) cannot deny their desire to see such an episode/scenario, animated or real life.

Anyway, the things I spend my money on...no wonder I'm still single.
