2 Questions on This Game

Postby GetGoingBird » Fri Jun 06, 2014 8:33 pm

I didn't play first game but can I still enjoy the story of Danganronpa 2? I don't have enough to buy the previous game.

Spoiler:
I researched a bit and some people on GameFaq forums are saying that one of the characters, Sonia, is not a virgin and I wonder if this game is really mature. Because you don't see many female characters who are like this in JRPGs.

Familiarity with the franchise is kind of helpful. It isn't required by any means, but there are some things that are either hinted in the first game that make for a much more satisfactory delivery, and there are plenty of references that just wouldn't make sense otherwise. But, if you can't get around playing the game properly, watching the anime would be sufficient.

Also, you're a pig.

This game isn't a JRPG it's a Visual Novel

You''re gonna be confused as fuck if you don't play the first game.

And both of them are Rated M. (PEGI 16 in EU. Cero D and in Japan)

Ok so I must play the first game to enjoy this one?
That's not really encouraging at all :?

I don't like games too mature and dark but I was attracted via word of mouth. Nothing too explicit will be good.

This is a sequel to the original game. What were you expecting? Go play the first game first and then eventually get the second one. You have months before it even comes out.

It does have a couple of jokes below the belt and a few fanservicey moments, but nothing obscene. But you do realize it is a game about school life of mutual killing in which you investigate murders. Wouldn't call it dark per se, but it definitely isn't daisies and rainbows.

Like what iatheia said. You have like 3 months until the 2nd game comes out so I would suggest buying it before then.

Welp. I got news for you. Murder mysteries are usually dark

Well this art style makes it seem like rainbows and sunshine - doesn't have ANY dark feeling to me TBH. I don't really mind if characters are not

Spoiler:
Virgin or not or whatever like Sonia but its wierd she is a Princess and isn't unwed Princess have this wierd purity and noble spiritual image or something u expect in fairy tales

Thing I cant save up enough in a few months to get Vita + first game. I only have enough for Vita and a LE of dis second game. Judging by how fast it sells, this game either is really good, or is just over-hyped for what its worth. But word of mouth seems to suggest da former.

I would suggest WATCHING either the anime or a let's play of the game on youtube if you absolutely cannot buy the first game (I understand money can be tight sometimes) or even read Oren's fan translation of it on the Something awful forums. But the second game is WAY better than the first so if you find you enjoy the first one definitely get the second. It IS a murder mystery and while it is light hearted and joking at times, the second game DOES get pretty dark.... even more so than the first.

And as far as Sonia goes
Spoiler:
the 'virgin' thing is on teeny tiny line in one of the chapters that suggests she isn't a virgin and then never mentioned again. There is some dirty humor in the game but nothing too mature.

Thanks :)

Watch the anime if you can't buy the 1st game or watch LP's on Youtube so that'll help you.

The 2nd game is practically better in every way than the first game.

Don't get me wrong the game is not 100% dreary and dark. There is some dirty jokes here and there and light hearted moments but it gets dark later on in the game.

I also heard there is this dating simulator at the end game. Is this true and what is it actually? : :?: cry:

Nope. You can hang out with other characters during free time in chapters.

After you beat the game you unlock a alternate story Mode called "School Mode"(DR1) and "Island Mode"(DR2) where you can freely hang out with characters and whatnot.

What's so bad about that?

So in Island mode you date characters? But the main game has no romance. So why put that in it just kills the engagement.

You don't date anyone. You hang out with the characters. You can hang out with the characters in the main game but it's somewhat limited
