Danganronpa 2: Typos and unnecessary line breaks

Postby Slur » Tue Sep 16, 2014 4:17 pm

What's up with the abundance of those in free-time events?

The line breaks are probably due to translations. They can only fit so much text into a single panel, and changing the language will obviously change how much appears in any given text box. As for the typos, I've noticed quite a few of them, even outside FTEs.

Not sure if this will go under this topic, but I have noticed that the frequent "No matter how..." dialogue being spoken. Every time I read it, the English title of WataMote comes to mind.

Yeah I noticed a few glaring typos throughout the game. lol Ones that were hard to miss.

But whatcha gonna do.

With the amount of text in the game, there wasn't THAT many, but there were definitely some.

I thought Dual Destinies had it worse. But some of these line-breaks though were incredibly jarring..

I stopped playing at Chapter 3 so I don't know how bad it gets later on, but typo wise I think this is Nisa's worst. It's like they didn't proof read it at all.

Yeah, I just started yesterday and I already found something when going back to the store I clicked on the cola and this happened.

I'm loving the game but I hope this isn't a reoccurring theme.
When I'm right and you're not?

From what I've been seeing, some copies have it and some don't. My copy doesn't have it but my had the fast forward glitch at the beginning of the game where it speeds through texts and I'm not pressing or holding down any button.

Despite the typos I'd see here and there, it didn't deter me from fully enjoying the game. No doubt this is going on the list of my top favorite games of all-time.

I didn't notice a single line break.

Just some typos.

I haven't noticed any line breaks or typos so far, but what I have noticed is some very stilted-sounding lines that might possibly be the result of a literal, unedited translation. There also seemed to be a repeated use of "even so", "situation" and the infamous "it can't be helped" throughout the dialogue.

Of course there is the possibility certain phrases such are those are repeated in the original script.

And there is also the possibility that they don't sound as jarring in Japanese as they do in English

Neither possibly is more invalid than the other then in this case without anything to back it up.

Fair enough. Still, NISA is a game localizer, not just a translator, and a localizer's job is to make something sounds natural in the language it's being localized in.

Though it might have been intentional?
I can't weigh in much except with throwing random theories around as I've not seen it in context at all, and not without reference to the original.
