http://gematsu.com/2012/12/dark-souls-ii-announced
Namco Bandai has announced Dark Souls II for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC at the Video Game Awards in Los Angeles tonight.

In development at From Software, the game will offers new obstacles, challenges, and suffering. It will feature a new hero and story, unfamiliar world, and a revamped server-based mutiplayer mode.

“Dark Souls II retains the core essence of Dark Souls while evolving to present new twists and challenges that are sure to please longtime fans and attract new comers to the series,” says Carlson Choi, Vice President of Marketing at Namco Bandai. “From Software is going to take a very dark path with Dark Souls II; players will need to look deep within themselves to see if they have the intestinal fortitude to embark on this journey.”

Tomohiro Shibuya, director of Dark Souls II, added: “This new chapter in the Dark Souls saga presents opportunities for us to drive innovation in gameplay design, develop an entirely new story, and expand the scope of the world in which the player interacts with the game. We have taken these necessary steps with Dark Souls II in order to evolve the overall experience of the Dark Souls series. The entire development team is striving to make Dark Souls II an experience that is fresh while not forsaking its roots in presenting players with challenging gameplay. Our goal is to surprise and delight our fans with new experiences and plot twists while enticing new players to join our dark journey.”

Infinite hype for this game~~ And I like what it seems like they're going to be doing to the story.

So, what would you folks like to see in DS2?

Me, I'd like:
1:Bring back the weapon subtypes not in Dark Souls
2:Balance ALL weapon subtypes
3:Stop putting things in that quite merrily skullfuck the game's balance
4:Stop making worthless covenants
5:Fix your fucking netcode so I don't get backstabbed from across the room
6:MOAR PANCAKEFACE!
7:Let players be pancakefaces (Maybe this could work along the lines of the egg thingy)
8:Stop letting elemental weapons be OP as fuck
9;Never do anything remotely resembling Blighttown OR the Land of Defilement ever again.
10:Stop making all decent light armor robes

Wow, I had more to complain about than I thought...

They'll think of something. Unless they do actually decide to keep hollows in (it is a sequel to Dark Souls afterall).

These were fixed in the patch, and it'll probably be brought into this Dark Souls too.

LOL Seriously. I didn't mind LoD as much, but Blighttown was horrible. Good thing you can skip it completely in other playthroughs~

Scumbadsoldier wrote: 10:Stop making all decent light armor robes

...What?

I just want magic to actually be reliable in PvP =P

Edit: And a better character creation system. Something like what Dragons Dogma had.

1.Meh, they were both equally terrible, but LOD at least had easy bosses.

Spoiler:
Bonus points for having a boss that literally kills herself if certain parameters are met.

2. OH SHIT! YOU DID NOT JUST SAY WHAT I THINK YOU DID!

Seriously, you want THE most scrub tactic in the first game, and the most scrub tactic behind zaphanding in the second BUFFED? I bet you want the old Dark Wood Ring back too!

Scrub tactic? You can't hit anything with magic AT ALL in PvP, along with them nerfing the CSS so when it does get a hit in, it won't do anything.
I just want magic to like...hit =P

And no, I don't care about the DWGR at all. I'm actually glad it got nerfed so I don't have to deal with a giant flipping mom every match.

For everything else, force them into a bottleneck.

They're screwed unless they happen to have the Dark Hand on their off hand.

Yeah, Blighttown was one of the few places in the game where the difficulty went from "I died, but it's my fault. Better try again." to "Scream profanity and throw the controller."

Also, as part of the 1% of players who cares not for PvP, I just hope they don't nerf anything that ruins my PvE builds.

Eh, I found Blighttown to be rather fun. ;p Land of Defilement doesn't ring any bells, though. Was that dinosaur land? ;3

And all those "overpowered" items/weapons/whatever have you were also pretty fun, because while they did make me rage, it was quite satisfying learning to beat those people down.

I want dual swords. That's all. And maybe another boss like Priscilla.

I didn't have that much problem with blight town. You just need the right equipment. If you don't have the right stuff going into it or aren't strong enough for it in your current state then you will obviously fail.

Seriously~ Nothing feels better than managing to beat down someone who invaded your level 1 character with elemental weapons XD

With something other than Katana's~ I can already see all the people roleplaying as Kirito

Blighttown was never a thing with difficulty. Did you see that framerate?

Nope. Never had frame rate issues. Played it on PC with an Nvidia card in offline mode.
