Whelp, finally got an email from Amazon about my watch bundle orders...still no fulfillment date... :/

I broke down and bought a seperate copy. So far so good, but it's not what I was hoping it'd be. There's too much of a focus on the gore/slasher moments from movies like Saw than the intricate plot development of the previous games. Also, the puzzles are pretty weak and simplistic.

It feels like the smaller budget constraints and focus on appealing to a more casual western consumerbase really hurt this game's potential.

I doubt that's a reason.
Because if you do that, you're going against everything that was popular about the previous ones.
So it's completely nonsensical.

I feel bad for the people who pre-ordered their copies months ago and are still waiting.

Got the last ending earlier. Quite a few surprises for those who played VLR, especially regarding this game's Zero. Though it does seem that Uchikoshi wasn't lying when he said that not everything would be answered…

Welp, I played through looking mostly for Sigma and Diana shipping.

Spoiler:
I am pleased that the game provided in abundance ~

Regarding the probability aspects of certain decisions...

Spoiler:
I suppose the way they played out complemented the respective lessons, such as always switch on Monty Hall (does anyone need me to explain why the likelihood of success for that particular setup is 9/10?); though the actual assigned probability in the triple dice roll is suspect.

I liked the transporter room puzzle cause radix problems are fun ~

Just finished it, after 3 fucking long years of waiting... Pretending that it never existed in the 1st place. Disappointing.

Uchikoshi said it himself, he went for the more cinematic Telltale adventure games approach since he saw the success of those games (in the West) and believes Westerns don't like to read. Also the fact that the Zero Escape games have sold better in the West vs. Japan helps reinforce the point that this game was made for/due to the Western fans, so Uchikoshi was essentially giving Western games "what they want."

I wouldn't go that far, though it is the worst entry for myself.

I can deal with the changes & different approach, but it's unfortunate that so many plot points/holes, characters and revelations from previous games were left out, retconned and/or forgotten... and I'm not even talking about how many of the puzzles (I haven't completed the game yet) are so weak and lack a connection to the story/plot/events/characters.

Wow, that's some flawed logic.
Somehow not recognising if they didn't like to read, it wouldn't have been as popular in the first place.
It's trying to appease a market that doesn't exist.

That's big-budget game company executive logic there.
