Well this is a pleasant surprise. Especially since I haven't played a Castlevania game in years, and this looks like it'll have an art style i'll like a lot more than the original games.

Yeah, the art style was one thing that needed to change.

"1,600 rooms would make Bloodstained around 1.5x the size of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (not counting the inverted castle in the latter)."

http://www.siliconera.com/2015/07/13/bl ... the-night/

Given the amount of rooms that will make it into the final game, Igarashi says, the development team may need more enemies than initially planned to really fill them up. In addition, Igarashi is now also thinking of expanding the game’s story and introducing more characters to push the plot forward.

"the 1.5x bigger aspect is based on the first Castle in SotN. Not the total of both castles in that game. Given that the Inverted castle was basically the same layout, just, well inverted/flipped upside-down, but with different enemies and item locations.

To put that in a more detailed perspective, there are a total of 1890 rooms between both castles of that game. Without glitching to the other, dummied out rooms. Dividing that number between the two castles, there are 942 rooms in the regular castle, and 948 rooms in the inverted castle. In other words, for Bloodstained to have 1600 rooms, the game will have 658 more rooms compared to the regular castle in SotN. Not to mention, based on his translated message, for him to say "over 1600 rooms" in the game, that would imply that there might be more than the flat number mentioned."

this would be gorgeous on PS4.

aside from PC, PS4 would be obviously the best platform that would generate the most profit, attention,
fame and success, just like SOTN found success on PS1 instead of portable or some nonplaystation platform.

If the IGAvanias of portables released on PS2/PS3 instead, they would have gathered a larger fanbase.

and even now Castlevania Harmony of Despair, IGA's last Castlevania when with Konami, is still being played
online on PS3, YEARS after its debut on X360.

So they would be smart to bring this to PS4 and PC.

I am liking the art but I won't say it's better than SOTN/NITM era artstyles. I think the gameplay backgrounds look a tad too colorful. SOTN to OoE, IGAvanias had a much darker, yet wonderful color tone
to them that still filled with interesting enviornment designs that add a whole lot of atmosphere.

it wouldn't have as much impact if they lean towards a more lighthearted presentation, I mean even
PoR was very dark and gritty world despite its lighthearted personalities and animeish vibes.
I dunno, maybe the HD graphics kind of brightens things a bit. It doesn't seem the original sprite team
is in this project, but still the concept is looking solid.

but these are first impressions, looking at the concept screen, the enviornment does have some dark
themes, the ground ceiling just looks bright because of its reflective material.

So yea, it is at least nice they didn't make this super deformed.

Already at 300,000$ mark.

Damn, people are really hungry for Castlevania (myself included).

I saw it when it was at like $10k... now it's almost $500k already?? Thank god. Bring on the IGA!

I'm saying that in regards to this is still in early kickstarter (1st day?) phase, nothing is set what they are going to do,
and while the support is rapidly growing, we have yet to even see PC version gameplay footage.

so it still is a wait and see sort of thing. yes it's looking to make PS4 version happen, which is great,
though I'm just saying like if this comes to PS4, then it's a relief that's one of the platforms getting it since
it would get the biggest success on that platform, as much or more than PC. ^-^

Also when I made that comment, I was just starting to gather info, and skimming most info before starting
to scan info.

most kickstarters are PC exclusive, so that's another reason why I assumed at least at
entry level knowledge, that this was coming to PC before any other platform and all other platforms
are not solid until the support reaches that level.

and this news is still very new and just being introduced, unlike Cosmic Star Heroine where it has been
known for months that it's being made for PS4 also.

could they raise the funding and add more incentives to do more with it?

Symphony of the Night Producer's New 2.5D Platformer Funded in Under Four Hours

The campaign went live at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT and reached its $500,000 target at 1:34 PM PDT / 4:34 PM EDT.

Funding will continue until June 12, leaving plenty of time for additional money to come through to help unlock Ritual of the Night's various stretch goals.

They include the following:

$600,000 -- Artbook upgraded to hardcover
$700,000 -- The introduction of a second playable character
$800,000 -- A "Nightmare" difficulty mode
$850,000 -- Voice acting from Metal Gear Solid veteran David Hayter

You can secure a digital copy of Ritual of the Night for a minimum pledge of $28. Now that the $500,000 target has been met, backers will have the option of selecting a physical disc across all platforms.

In Ritual of the Night, you play young orphan girl named Miriam who has been scarred by an alchemist curse. The game is set in a "demon-filled castle," not unlike Igarashi's most iconic work, 1997's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Ritual of the Night is scheduled to launch in March 2017 across PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Explaining why the game is not coming to Nintendo platforms, developer Inti Creates

said: "We can't afford to create the two separate versions of this game that would be necessary to make it run on every console." (Unreal Engine 4 supports PC, PS4 and X1 right out of box.)

At the same time, the developer teased: "We've heard legends about a remarkable treasure hidden in the castle basement..."

That was kind of quick, wasn't it?
Still though, it would be nice to see the funding reach stretch goals as well.

So they're still adding stretch goals, and there's still plenty of time to back the kickstarter, even when it's already reaching the last few stretch goals. That's great, since I don't think I have looked forward to any kickstarter project as much as this.

I might actually back the game as well, just for a physical copy.

I'm actually excited for this. I haven't played a lot of CV games, but I've seen a good sum. I also think the protag, Miriam, is very pretty. 8-)
