NISA Press conference 2015 (22nd Feb; 6pm-9pm PST)

Postby Kresnik » Sun Feb 21, 2016 1:27 pm

Just thought I'd make a thread for this year's press conference, since we've had them the last couple of years and I've enjoyed posting in them!

This year's is only a day and a bit away, although we may need to wait a little while for the announcements to trickle out!

What are you all hoping for? And what are you all expecting?

My hopes: Any Vita games (my favourite console at the moment), but in particular: Yomawari; Hero Must Die & Ukiyo no Roushi.

My expectations: More PC ports - Disgaea 2 & Phantom Brave probably.

There are a couple of Vita games in particular I'm hoping for:
"Criminal Girls 2" - though I'm honestly questioning if NISA should even bother with it
"Night Watch"
"Rose and The Castle of Twilight" - though it still isn't out in Japan yet though

Other then that, even though I'm not a PC gamer...I am hoping for more of their games to come to PC. Gotta spread the love after all. Especially the more indie-inspired games NIS is making ("htoL#NiQ" and the last two mentioned above).

I don't see anymore PC ports announced. Disgaea PC isn't even out yet. They need to see how that goes before they dump more into PC ports.

I expect most of their announcements will probably be around PS4/PSVita hybrid releases, games available on both consoles.

*Gets a bucket of popcorn*

I'd give good odds on Criminal Girls 2 and Hero Must Die (slightly lower - it's only ALMOST out in Japan, although an early announcement for localization might be a thing).

Otherwise, I'm gonna wait and see. XD

Out of interest, what PSV/PS4 hybrid releases do you see them announcing? There seems to be very little available for them to pick up at present. Assuming the stuff that already has a western publisher isn't counted (i.e. Bandai-Namco stuff; Koei-Tecmo stuff; Square-Enix stuff).

- Exist Archive, but Anihawk at GAF has insisted time and time again that that game is being picked up by someone other than NISA.
- Psycho-Pass/Punch Line/Steins Gate 0 - I suppose these are possible, but NISA have shown no interest in 5pb's VN's before.
- Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters expansion - Aksys picked up the first game and it seemed it bombed in the west, seems unlikely.

I suppose they could announce upcoming games like God Wars or Root Letter, but it seems really early for that. Although they did announce Rodea before it released in Japan, but at least that game was basically finished at the time and had a set release date (we haven't even seen footage of those two games).

They do have access to three easy Vita exclusives (Criminal Girls; Operation Babel & Yomawari) and another one that's just released (Hero Must Die), but they seem to be moving away from doing the exclusive stuff.

It's a weird position to be in. Means we might get some surprises though, but it's also why I'm expecting the PC porting announcements (i.e. because I don't know what else they could announce).

My expectations for the conference are: Root Letter, God Wars, and Yomawari. Kadokawa had announced that Root Letter and God War will receive an international release in Spring 2016; specifically for the former, it is in alignment with NISA's stated newfound focus on Visual Novels.
Now what I would like to hope is: Yomawari (and not only a limited physical run of it, as was done with Firefly Diaries); Root Letter; Shin Hayarigami (I saw the first few minutes via a YouTuber and I was pleasantly surprised); and finally a curve-ball visual novel for VITA :D !

Psycho-Pass (for PS4, VITA, PC) has been leaked to be one of NISA's localizations! My first hope, of a curve-ball visual novel, has been realized!

Guess I'll be getting Psycho Pass to support 5pb./visual novels in general. Not my #1 choice though, but hopefully this could lead to future localizations like Robotics;Notes or Chaos;Child *drools*

That reminds me that I really need to get around to finishing Psycho-Pass. I got halfway through Season 1 and then a vacation happened.
