I disagree. Pawns are rather important and you should pay attention to what they say especially if your using other players pawns and allowing yours to go out and learn, they will have important information to say about the monsters and the world around you if you allow them to gain knowledge about their world.
I think the point is they have no personality or anything. They're just a bit vacant.
