Nnn... I dunno, really. I don't think there's any real delay to speak of for NIS games (for obvious reasons), and the delay for other games isn't usually too bad. For one, it makes sense to wait until after a game is released before looking to license, so you can see how it sold. After that, give a few months for the actual localizing work (and arrangements with the other companies, though negotiating with Compile Heart, Gust, etc. is probably relatively smooth and easy by now), and I think NISA usually gets games to us pretty quickly. The only way to really speed it up, I think, would be to have a bigger team working on it. So I don't really expect any particular changes in localizing speed because of this.

I'm still unsure about this. Especially now that NISA aren't their own man and Japan rules over them.

More like how it's supposed to be in the first place >w>

I think that's probably a good reason for this actually, they should really have as much unison as possible

I don't know, I had the impression that NISA ran things on their own. But now that NISJ is the boss of them and runs things, I have a feeling things will change. And when companies change, 99% of the time it's never good.

This seems like a pretty unfair statement >_> if it were true, there's absolutely zero incentive for any company to ever go through any change.

Sure, but that doesn't detract from the fact that LAMV thinks this change in leadership is bad, and now some uninformed people are going to read his post and be like "change in leadership is bad? Oh god, NISA is going down the drain! Bail out now!"

True. Honestly though, I'm not going to waste time trying to convince anyone that this change will be good or bad. Who knows what'll happen. My guess is there won't be any noticeable change.

If people want to suddenly start yelling "The sky is falling!", that's their problem. ┐(‘~`;)┌

What? The american division of a Japanese company is being controlled by it's Japanese root company!?!

I am in shock.

Seriously, dood. Get a clue.

No one on the internet is going to read anything and change how they feel about something, if that were the case, it wouldn't be the internet.

That's only true for people who already have preformed opinions on topics they know something about (like LAMV, apparently). For people who have no exposure to businesses changing leadership, if the first thing they see is "changing leadership is bad!", that becomes their first impression, then they start spreading it everywhere it's applicable, like a plague. The very next time NISA does something that someone doesn't like, the first thing they're going to do is blame the change in leadership.

I am slightly worried. Historically with Japanese pop culture companies, letting the Japanese home company run the American branch have usually been disastrous. But that's mainly with anime and manga, with console games there's not quite as huge a gulf of customer expectations between the regions so it should be a bit smoother. And the way NISA has been handling their anime releases is closer than most US companies to how Japan releases anime anyway (except for Aniplex).

Still, wasn't Akenaga a huge Gust fan, and the main reason NISA got most of their games? Hopefully they perform well enough on their own to continue, I get the impression the Atelier series is fairly stable here.
