From the size (100kb), they look like on-disc unlocks....which is something I'm pretty sour on. Yes, they are free of course, but they wouldn't be released like that if there wasn't pay content further on. If I'm wrong on that, obviously no deal. But if (and again, *if*) a lot of the Japanese DLC is already on disc, why not just mark the game up $5-$10 bucks and sell a 'Complete Edition' day 1 at retail.
Maybe I'd be in the minority, but for this type of niche game, I don't think most interested people would have a problem paying a few extra bucks over a regular retail price point to get an all-inclusive version. I know some big name franchises milk the single-player DLC method, but I wonder if a title like this will attract enough of a buying audience to make the DLC method more financially successful as opposed to a slightly more expensive all-inclusive retail version.

It's the same way in the Japanese version except for a few DLC like costumes and characters. Most of the DLC is stuff you can obtain in the game, but getting the DLC makes it easier so they become those 100kb DLC except for maybe the free quests.

That would be a cool deal, we are getting the game a whole lot later than expected even with the upgraded shipping. I pre ordered sense day 1~
