Ar tonelico Qoga Price

Postby Alucard » Mon Mar 21, 2011 2:52 am

Considering that this game has a 66 out of 100 score on metacritic I don't see how this game can be priced at 64.99 in Canada (ebgames Canada+Amazon.ca). This price is way above the average price for even AAA PS3 games. There has been a lot of downward pressure on game prices lately and I'm not sure why this game is trying to buck the trend. The Canadian dollar is roughly on par with united states currency (lately we have even had a slightly higher dollar). I don't think we should be paying the "Canada tax" that seems to get tacked onto our games just because our dollar was lower 5 years ago. For a game that scores a 66 out of 100 I'm probably looking to pay $29-35. I have also been seeing some reports of freezing on some ps3 systems which is also a little off putting. I want to support the company but don't gouge me.

Maybe it's because the first batch are made of Premium Boxes.

Seriously? $29-$35? This game is worth FAR more than that. You are being kind of selfish to think a brand new, full length JRPG should be sold for such a price. Plus, only DD games should ever be sold for that little. Yeesh, be happy you aren't like Europe where they charge $75+ dollars for games. Also, the game's price is 59.99 (without sales tax) over here, which is standard for non-high priced PS3 games. Some PS3 games are $70+ over here when they're new. So, you paid a couple dollars more than us.

This is nowhere near price gouging. Unless people in Canada really only pay 25-35 for a brand new game. Of which I would be surprised.

Ugh, try paying upwards of 100 bucks....for a PSP game here in Japan. >.< Honestly, if you don't like the price then wait a while and buy it used (IF you can find it). No offense, but if you truly want to support NISA, then you will purchase games at the price NISA sets them at; most all of us know that niche localizers don't make tons and tons of profit like AAA companies do.

*edit* sorry for sounding harsh but I think what gets my goat is that you feel you have a right to ask for a lower price bases solely off of ONE review which is really only ONE person's opinnion. So if the next AAA game only got a 6/10 you would only pay less for it then? Kinda messed up man.

Actually Leinaud it's a metacritic score. Which takes the average score of a bunch of popular review sources.

Just wait if you aren't interested in the game. Oh and before making critic scores gaming law, think about this. Most of the reviewers on metacritic give rudimentary games such as Modern Warfare 2 9/10 or higher.
"A dragon godess her armor is modest. Breathes fire though, so you know she's the hottest.
I could take a bite if she wants to trade. She's not the only one who's specced to invade."

Ahh SJ my bad, guess I was a little heated to look at source of the cited score, lol, :P

Either way, my position still stands.

Like vampko said, it's standard price for games here. Though I'm questions what games he's paying $70 for. Unless he means Special editions, but then you aren't just paying for a game.

It's been a while, but there was a couple games that were at that price point in their Standard edition. It could have just been the store I went to. There's no real way to know, as that place is shut down and gone forever pretty much.

Maybe because they were charging 70 bucks per game! Personally I've never seen it that for standard edition and I'm glad.

I liked it when Atlus was selling there new games for $40 for a while. What happened to that. I'm looking at you Catherine. *glares*

Even 39-45 wouldn't be terrible... but 65+tax!?! I'd be hard pressed even to buy even a disgaea game at that price

Wow...you are spoiled. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but you really are spoiled for whatever reason. Maybe where you live games are really cheap. I can only find used games for that price. Never brand new games. I feel sorry for you that you're getting subjected to prices that are so normal for us.

And, japan/europe/etc, they pay way more than that. Tales of Graces F was nearly $100 for just the standard edition.

Just, be happy you're not paying prices like that.

I actually have lived in Japan and while some games do cost and arm and a leg there, there are really some great deals to be had on games that sell well. Used copy of DQ9 last year was 850 yen tales of vs used was 500 yen. Game prices also drop pretty quickly on some titles in and around Akihabara depending on how popular the title is. Places like yodobashi camera are always going to have high prices on games.

There are great deals everywhere, that's not the case. The case is that the standard price for a game at launch is U$60, it's not NISA who deliberately chose that price.

Probably because they were PSP or PS2 games, which have lower price points, or just simply budget-priced games (3D Dot Game Heroes was this)

I don't like the high prices either, so I only buy games that either have limited editions or that I really really want when they release. Everything else I'll wait for a price drop or try to find it used. I just accept it now.
