Armored Core V (PS3/360)

Postby Shizuka » Wed May 11, 2011 10:01 pm

From Software set October as the release window for Armored Core V in Japan, but before that there will be a closed beta. Armored Core V has players battle over online territory where the war continues as long as your console is connected online.

Famitsu’s report also outlined a variety of boost options. By using a Glide Boost you can dash in all directions. With the right leg parts, a Boost Charge lets you dash-kick another mech. Hi-boost is a speedier short distance dash. Players can also jump and boost forward, which means there is triangular movement in Armored Core V. Armored Core V also has stances such as a weapon shift and purge stance mentioned in the magazine.

Namco Bandai will handle Armored Core V in North America and have the game slated for early 2012.

There was a live demo today, you can watch it here.

Customization at 0:28. Some gameplay at 0:45. More gameplay at 1:07. Operator Mode gameplay at 2:16.

The game's skyboxes need some work ( ), but holy hell if it doesn't look awesome.

I used to really like ac, but my love for the series is going downhill. It seems with the newer games money is getting less important since you can buy whatever you want more and more easily. Plus they make hidden ac parts overpowered, and searching every nook and cranny (WTF is a cranny anyway) on a timer isn't my idea of fun either.

I own 4 but I never even tried it yet lol.

I'm not really sure about this series. I hear there's no way to grind for money/parts...?

It never used to be a problem in the older ones, as you could sell everything back for exactly what you paid for it, although I hear they changed that later on, which I think is unnecessarily unfair due to the aforementioned lack of ability to earn infinite money before completing the game. As because the advancement is equipment-based in Armoured Core it's like taking away your experience points in another game (although, not the best example, but I can't think of another right now), as there's no way to re-earn it.
The game's much more dependant on skill than a typical RPG anyway.

Actually, I believe you can sell parts in AC:FA, the latest entry in the series.

However I think you lose money on them is what I meant, rather than selling them back for exactly what you bought them for, which is how the old ones worked.
