Steins;Gate Localization

Postby Eelcire » Wed Apr 07, 2010 6:15 am

Another request, but something from a little different genre, I'd like to see Steins;Gate from 5pb brought over. The story premise sounds interesting, and the game as a great visual style. Steins;Gate is part of a genre not really represented outside of Japan and I'd be interesting how much support it could get. If brought over though, I'd really appreciate the original language track to remain with only text localized.

Little more information on the game from Wikipedia:
The story of Steins;Gate takes place in Akihabara and is about a group of friends who have customized their microwave into a device that can send text messages to the past. As they perform different experiments, an organization named SERN who has been doing their own research on time travel tracks them down and now the characters have to find a way to avoid being captured by them.

The game is an ADV, or interactive graphic novel where the player mostly is following along the story making choices occasionally that will affect the overall story. The game also has a manga adaptation (which is something else I'll have to look into).

Ah, thanks. Added a bit more information to the original post. Wanted to keep the OP short and to the point.

Looks interesting.

Conjecture on my part:

Chances of it coming over, are closely tied to success of Sakura Wars and Disgaea Infinite. If those 2 games make money, we might see more things like this from NISA in the future and that would be a good thing IMO.

Another mindless localization topic....

First of all NISA doesnt localize 360 games

Second of all, NISA focuses exclusively on rpgs (disgaea infinite being the one exeption)

Third, the game isnt even that good.....

In conclusion.... never going to happen. A more realistic option would be for them to localize agarest zero, its an srpg and a ps3 game... right up there alley

Love "your" mindless generalizations too, there, Stealth. The requests section is for considering most things, however seemingly invalid they may be to you. All I'm seeing from you is fanboyism and bashing of topics. If you can't say something nice, don't post.

If DI works well I think there is a chance of them doing more, I think there is just lots of uncertainty on whether there is a market.

I did not know though that NISA was "officially" not doing x360, though I did miss that part that it was 360 only. Now that I look again I see it but /shrug.

Though if you say the game isnt good, well that seems like a good reason not to bother with it. I have heard tell ( no way to know for sure!) that there are actually some decent PSP ADV/VN games that are good, might be a better idea to focus on those if more VN were ever done. Kind of hard for most of us to judge quality on this sort of thing, difficult to play unless it has a PC version with a fan translation. :(

Heh, I think I'm going to post more 360 games here, just for you, seeing as how you're so opposed to them. :P Hehe.

Its not fanboyism, its what NISA themselves have said. A major focus on the ps3. Meaning they wont localize games for the 360 (cross edge dash being a shining example). At least come up with a realistically good game to consider... when games like this come up its apparent that the topic poster doesnt understand NISA.....

Plus I am not apposed to 360 games, but they are bad for nisa. Japanese games hardly sell on the 360 at all which is why major releases are on the ps3 and sell well.

I honestly wouldnt care but your forgeting what NISA themselves said not even 3 months ago. "A major focus on the ps3 in overseas markets", does that mean that they localize 360 games? No

As recent financial data can tell you the games that nisa localizes, jrpgs, sell better on the ps3

Hence
Trinity Universe (ps3)
atelier rorona (ps3)

atelier rorona 2 (ps3)
ar tonelico iii (ps3)
new disgaea project (ps3)
Neptune (ps3)

Its just the way NISA is now.... accept it and buy a ps3.

I did come up with a realistically good game to consider, Cross Edge Dash being that shining example.

NISA localizes games.
Cross Edge Dash is already on the Xbox 360 in Japan.

NISA localizing games + Cross Edge Dash already on the Xbox 360 = Potential sales in North America.

If you really didn't care about Xbox 360 getting games you'd support the damn games, and not boast about PS3 support. Not to mention you still continue to post as though you work for NISA. You don't.

I support NIS and NISA, regardless of platform. You seem to care more about where the games are then the games themselves.

If they were to localize 360 games, I would rather them be a an rpg and not graphic novels. Again I am the only one that actually listens to nisa. Once again they said a focus on the ps3 in overseas markets.

In regards to cross edge dash, NISA has stated that they will never localize it. Its funny how people forget what NISA states and then just pretends otherwise.

Look at the line up basically for the next 2 years......

trinity universe
ateleir rorona

ar tonelico III
atelier rorona 2
new disgaea ps3 project (will hold off calling this disgaea 4 until its released)

All ps3 games....its not fanboyism, its what I see NISA supporting.

On the atlus forums I support them localizing ds games because of luminous arc 3, EO III, and taisen exceed (all series they support)

Like we have said before, all we're seeing is you boasting about the PS3. As long as games get on your platform of choice, I doubt you'd care about the games themselves.

And really, I've spoken with NISA employees on a first-hand basis myself, but do you see me judging their practices as you do? No.
