It's not as if they'd be breaking new ground and giving the world something it's never seen before. That's generally how sleeper hits work. Disgaea was a sleeper hit because it was something the West had never really seen, and it was executed very well. Same for stuff like Katamari Damacy.
Old game compilations (especially a collection of RPGs with little to no nostalgia value and an intimidating amount of required playtime to see it all) are not really a recipe for success.
You are, of course, correct that it could be a sleeper hit. But sleeper hits are by their very nature unpredictable, so it's not like we could go in banking on that.
