Agarest: Generations of War Trophy Patch

Postby Varyag » Wed Apr 21, 2010 7:59 pm

Is there will be one? Or the story with Disgaea 3 Eu TP repeats?))
You know, it's sorta unfair that US gamers have trophies, and Eu gamers have nothing...

We got the game about half a year before the US (its still unreleased in America at time of writing this) so I don't really see how its unfair, besides the game already has its own built in titles that unlock extra recipes and character art whereas trophies are mainly for comparing ones e-penis.

The only thing that bothers me is that Ghostlight have seemingly given up on post-game support (i.e. the DLC content that includes extra dungeons etc.)

I wouldn't let the absence of trophies put you off buying this game as its pretty good.

trophies are mainly for comparing ones e-penis.

I don't think so. I'm not a trophy-hunter or something, but I like interesting trophies, it's sort of additional motivation to re-play the game. I buy games without reference to trophies, and enjoy it. But if game includes interesting trophies - it's just in plus. :)

for US PSN version?

Currently I'm waiting for info about price and size of PSN version, and then decide which one I'll buy =)) The EU version cost, with shipping to my country, about 50-55$, so...

Don't expect this game to have interesting trophies. They'll most likely be identical to some of the in-game titles (unless they opt for the stupidly easy "complete 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th generation" achievements that the Japanese 360 version had)

well the in game achievments matched the trophies for cross edge so they'll probably do the same

Considering the US version of the game is actually different to what we got, I do not expect we will see trophies for it. Ghostlight are tiny, and it shows in the quality of their product. Spelling and grammatical errors to be found, I don't think I trophy patch for this is of much priority (Don't get me wrong, I really like the game).

But yeah, the us release uses the Japanese re-release of the game, with some little extra bits here and there. And even then, the Japanese version of even the re-release did not have trophies.

I didn't say they were crap at their job, but spelling and grammatical errors in such a text heavy game are kinda poor :v
But its just a result of not being a particularly large entity, mistakes are more likely to slip through (Not that it doesn't happen even with larger companies, which is far less forgiveable).
And I would rather see them issue patches to address the errors in the text/graphics first than a Trophy patch.

From what I understand, the translation was mostly done by Idea Factory and the proof readers at Ghostlight weren't given enough time/resources to correct some of the later scenarios in the game.

The NA version is using the later re-release of the original game in Japan, that had a few extra scenes, so its got a couple more perty cg's to look at.
It's also PSN download ONLY on the PS3, and available on the 360 on disc.
Whereas the EU version is PS3 only, on disc.

Aside form the new scenes, I do not think there are any major changes to the core gameplay.
EU translation is a bit ropey in places, NA one may be better, but that's only a guess.

Thanks a lot!
I think I'll buy PSN version, price the same in my country, around 50 bucks (45 PSN = 54 bucks for the PSN 50$ card; and Eu version Blu-ray cost 54-55 bucks with shipping...), so... it's better buy a newer version, I think...)) I don't have X360, and TBH... I don't like this console because it's have no good exclusive titles for me... in my country, and also Russia, X360 is sorta popular because it can be hacked and games costs around 2 bucks (price for Verbatim DVD-DL)... ))

Just make sure you've thought up a good excuse when your ISP phones to complain about your bandwidth usage. XD
