[Request] Purchasable Digital Copies on PSN?

Postby Teddie Sage » Fri Aug 05, 2011 12:21 pm

Dear NIS America, Inc

Do you think it would be possible to put games like Cross Edge, Trinity Universe and Disgaea 3/4 on PSN so we could buy them there instead of tracking the blu-rays down? The physical copies are hard to find after a while, the company would still make a profit from this. Thank you for your time.

- Teddie.

This suggestion also applies for NIS America games for the WiiWare, etc.

This has been requested before, but I really think NISA should do this. If I find Cross Edge now, it's probably from new copy from someone that bought the game from a retailer or a used copy, and those things don't give the company money. Now, if I could download Cross Edge, the only PS3 game from NISA that I do not have, then the company would get my money directly.

Exactly. This would be a win-win situation for everyone. I don't have Disgaea 3 and Cross Edge and I've been looking for those games desperately. Imagine this, if we get this to happen, we'll also get to buy the DLC which also gives more of the profits to NIS America. It would also be a good idea to put Bleach Soul Resurrection on PSN for that matter. Even if it's already available on blu-ray, some people like myself would prefer having their games directly installed in their PS3's hard drives. Less loading times, less scratches, more satisfied customers and NIS America workers.

Well, I see why they wouldn't put new games like Bleach, Disgaea 4 or Atelier Totori on PSN because they need to sell the copies that they manufacture, but old games that they don't print anymore are a great choice. Bundle the digital version of Disgaea 3 with the DLC, or Cross Edge with its DLC as well, and you're selling even more stuff.

It's a neat idea but it's really NIS Japan's decision. They're the ones who actually have to put the games on PSN.

i would LOVE to see NISA do this

frankly, i think every niche publisher should be offering their games on PSN. it should only make sense that they would want to have their games available to as many customers as possible. selling your game digitally ensures that customers will be able to buy it even if they can't find it in a store and guarantees that you'll still be able to make sales long after the packaged game is out of print.

Cross Edge, Disgaea 3, Atelier Rorona, and Last Rebellion are still all being sold by Amazon's 1st party and not 1 of their 3rd party companies.

But I do think some of the games will be kind of big for downloading. But I guess that didn't stop Sony with inFamous 2 which is like a 15GB download.

Thank you for all your commentaries, guys and girls. This will ensure that someone from NIS America will read us. And I agree with Ar Tonelico, if Sony made InFamous 2 available online, nothing's impossible.

Well maybe games that can use a dual-layer Blu-ray disc or at least pretty close to it, are defintely the exceptions of no way being available on PSN. Even inFamous 2's 15GB download is kind of much where you feel it will be better just to buy a disc copy(plus inFamous 2 isn't niche so there's a lot of disc copies available).

But I do notice that all of the PS3 games available on PSN that also have a retail copy(excluding ones like Record of Agarest War 1 and Arcana Heart 3 which are download only for U.S. PS3 owners) are all popular titles.

Of course I more favor of disc copies, but I also don't mind if NISA can get some extra money for these games instead of having them being sold out in stores except for used copies. But of course I do also say that it is better to just buy the disc copy game when they come out so you don't have to worry about it later.

It's not every regions that get them, you know? So it's harder to find NIS games in smaller towns and cities. Everyone jumps on them. In bigger cities, you have way more chances to find at least twenty to hundreds of copies when they come out. Where I'm from, the shop only receives like five to six games whenever they come out and they renew them rarely. So if you don't pre-order or someone pre-ordered before you, you are screwed. This is why the purchasable digital copies on PSN would save us from a LOT of trouble.

My Gamestop gets about 3-4 copies of NISA games, and I live in a kind of crowded area. I always buy my games right away, and maybe like 1 or 2 other copies get sold afterwards with like always having 1 display copy that just sits there on the store shelf available. Or like the NISA Premium Editions being kept in the back room or behind the cash register.

There may be no shortage on the US, but I can assure you there is on a lot of countries in the world. The PSN reaches a global level, and that's what NISA should go after.

See, there's nothing to lose here since a lot of people want JRPGs to be ported and localized in America. The problem is, Americas are biased toward WRPGs lately and not many people pay attention to them because of the lousy reviews or because of the shortage everywhere else, outside of the States. If those games would be on PSN, the cash would come like a flow and this would give NISA more opportunity to hire new people and localize more games in the future. I realize that I'm just an idealist, but this would be awesome...

most of the PS3 games that claim to fill the Blu-Ray disc are usually just padded with dummy files and duplicate textures to shorten load times. when LittleBigPlanet came out they claimed that they practically filled the disc, but the digital version is much smaller. and i think this is true for most games, with the exception of MGS4 and games than span multiple discs on Xbox 360.

I think Last Rebellion must be... 2GB, top.
