so what that the gameplay shares a similiar theme and formula between them? They still provide new enviornments, new characters, different situations in the story, improved UI flow and other things,

You can't reinvent the wheel without risking changing a franchise's genre and flavor too much (which are some things people are ranting about some changes, like removal of stats, spell modifiers, etc.)

overall Skyrim really isn't the exact same thing as Oblivion, Morrowind, etc. Even though say Arena I heard you can go visit any location in Tam'riel, it's graphics and presentation and other things are not the same thing.

I mean people fussing about the gameplay being similiar, is like people complaining that a fighting game series or action series or shooter series plays too similiar to each other.

it means I am not missing much

And from the 100 hours I put into morrowind, oblivion and hearing about skyrim

The games have been devolving

The latest thing to go along with the majority of the guilds is magic creation

I wouldn't say they've been devolving, they're definitely trimming stuff off, but it was generally the unnecessary things anyway.
Oblivion plays much better, mostly in the combat side of things, than Morrowind for instance.

Removing, the guilds, magic creation, majority of the rpg elements, solidified quests is better?

Morrowind was better than oblivion in every way other than graphics.

I like TESIV over TESIII. Better location, more interesting stories, more interesting characters and towns and cities, nice mounts, better combat, more interesting quests, main story and tons of other things.

Gotta agree with you affinity, but hey, maybe I'm the one that's wrong, and a game can't be fun if I've played the previous games :P

Seriously though, if a game series continues to be fun, and evolves in some form (be it graphics, combat, or interaction), I'll buy said installment of a series heh

I felt morrowind had the Better location (more varied), more interesting stories, more interesting characters and towns and cities (more varied), better combat (more options), more interesting quests, main story (the main quest in oblivion was aweful)

Guilds? There were a good four in Oblivion, which had much better quest lines than some of Morrowind's guild quest chains, and the magic creation never left.
Also not having to walk to places you've been several times already helps a bit, as sometimes getting about was a little annoying (Vivec, I'm looking at you, even with the falling down the sides).
Also the combat was much better in Oblivion as the rolling to hit deal in Morrowind was a little disconnecting, especially with ranged weapons, as you could fail to even launch the arrow, and even after that you had make sure the arrow connected with the target by aiming, then you had to roll to hit again. Although people can become terrible damage sponges in Oblivion at high levels (the auto-levelling is rather rubbish really, Fallout 3 did it much better).

Morrowind is such a lame location anyways. Mostly ash from the volcano and stuff. And the npcs are not as interesting to talk to compared to Cyrodiil's populace. Also TESIV has much better organized system that makes things like questing and communication far better.

Only thing that bugged me about TESIV were the character models...the pudding faces scared me...exploration and everything was enjoyable in my opinion...so yeah, I have hopes that this game will at LEAST be on the level of IV in certain aspects
