I can see how his look would offend the fan base being as people get realy wrapped up in their games and the fans tend to get irked when they consider a beloved charecter"tarnished" or changed so drastically you cant even tell its the same charecter.
Im sure if it was a game not baring the DMC name people wouldnt be so upset over it and probably even like it.
When I first saw the teaser for the game I honestly thought it was a different game based in the DMC world (I actually like the junkie look the charecter is sporting in DMC kinda makes ya think he'll die at the end from an overdose)<--not sarcastic I quite meant that.
I do think people should give it a chance and not hate on it simply because its a different looking "Dante"(hell they all look different to me anyways) I mean knowing what I knew of what FFXIII was going to be I still was looking forward to it even if it was different....well in my case I ended up hateing it but I didnt bash it till AFTER I played it.

I just think doing prequel after prequel is stupid. I hate games/books anything that does that you can only go so far back so often till I get irked and give up buying the things.

It's not the same Dante. That's quite understandable.

So, it's an AU. Ninja Theory has shown that they suck at fast-paced combat, and they focus too much on story/visuals. I usually don't like their stories they have to tell. Or rather, I thought enslaved was a horrible joke.

Either way, I'm more worried about the gameplay being ruined by them.

Ive never played a Ninja Theory game befor but ive wached a few on youtube and while enslaved looks good to me at the moment their games seem a little just soso? Not quite up to par with what Devil May Cry entails......The whole battle system will be nocked down a few notches I think and thats at a minimum.
By the by from the vids ive seen Ninja Theory seems to have issues with the graphics and a number of other things...,I dont see this going well for DMC to be honest but i'll still give it a shot....Hopefully they release a demo first so the flaws can be seen first befor buying the game

Um...like other DMC fans have said "it's not all about the hair" and unlike other fanbases the DMC one have shown their work since they nitpick to the very last pixel

From what I've heard, Alice blows this away and not to blow anyone's optimism for this game but aren't previews generally positive?

Honestly to me the DMC fanbase have way more reasons to complain than certain others

Exactly, they have a bad track record, and DMC has an amazing track record. That's why I'm worried.

I curious as to where exactly you heard that Alice blows DMC away.

I'm a hard core DMC fan and despise the fact that they completely scrapped the Dante we fell in love with, but I still agree that this game looks fantastic, easily better than past DMC games. I'll still take caution with Ninja Theory behind it all, but I have high hopes for this game.

To be honest I just read that in a forum and posted it here (though remebering the screenshots of it and seeing how fluid ALices' hair was I agreed with the statement)

Although I've only played 1 DMC game (that was 4) it's really easy to side with the DMC fanbase after seeing them put out the work to back up their statements and to me Capcom owes them a HELL LOT more than certain other capcom fanbases.

And whether or not this game looks better than the other DMC games can be debated.

From what I've read, Capcom is overseeing the gameplay so I don't know if that'll soothe you

And with what Cap/Nt been saying about the story, there's really no idea of what it's supposed to be even with the announcement of Dante being Half Angel-Demon (I kinda vomitted a little when I first read it)

I just warn you, Ninja Theory is really notorious, and they said themselves they wanted a 'story approach' with this game. I just am really hoping they don't focus too much on the story. Cause, really, DMC's never really been story-based (and with good reason), and it's been all about the comical moments, and fast-paced action.

I still am lost why they are even bothering with a prequel when 3 did that just fine

@Usulu: Alice was nice, I loved it. Graphically, maybe it was better than DMC. I personally don't think so despite loving Alice's fluid hair movements. But DMC shines in it's combat, something Alice lacked. The battles in Alice we nice, fun, and entertaining enough to carry the rather long story it had; but is nothing compared to Devil May Cry.

Already in this new DMC game I'm liking the scenery more than previous games and the combat look just as slick and stylish (if not more) than DMC 4. In fact, the only thing bothering me is the character--he's not Dante. Other than that this game is an absolute must have for me.

@Vampko: If the game had more story than the previous entries then I'm fine with that. There were so many loop holes and unexplained events in DMC 4 that it kinda annoyed me. I wont expect a stellar story from this, but if it turns out to be better than the past ones then I'm fine. Of course don't change what made Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry to begin with. I'm not too fond of Ninja Theory's work, so I'm halfway expecting things to go wrong. But in the end, as long as it has a bitchin' stylish combat that's uber fun to play (and the Bloody Palace) I get it.

It does look interesting, but like you, I'm wary because of the NT.

And, yeah, that's not Dante. They should just have given him a different name really. It doesn't effect me much, because I just look at it like an AU, and don't worry about it. Much like Negima!? versus Mahou Sensei Negima. I just hope it doesn't turn out as bad as Negima!? did... :?

Wait a second....story aproach? Then is this becoming an RPG then? Wll then isnt that dandy?...I honestly think Ninja Theory was the worst choice for this game.....their fighting games (imo)are sub par and they dont realy fine tune anything.....This game will crash and burn the series unless someone actually does regular checkups and tweeking to whatever Ninja Theory does....But one can still have hope thet they Might do well with it I mean miracles can happen right?
