Does anyone else feel the same way?

Postby dood » Fri Sep 30, 2011 2:17 pm

I play this game for an hour and I just don't like it. I love RPGs but not this one. The gameplay isn't the best and the tutorials take forever (I wonder how I managed Kingdom Hearts 2). I really like the story and characters though. Does anyone else feel the same way.

I just don't think it was that good. Maybe I am just to deeply invested in the regular way RPGs work. I like action, adventure, and fighting games but I love RPGs to. I just don't think that type of thing should mix. You know vampko I have seen quite a few posts from you and you seem some what interesting.

Once you work how to best string combos together, it's quite fun to have insanely long combos, and then unleashing combination attacks because you can. Although if you really don't like the gameplay, you could always break it by buying the DLC which contains high-level weapons and just steamroll everything to get to the stuff you do enjoy.

This has DLC? I really don't know whether to get it or to just save money and buy more RPGs for my PS3.

There's a bunch of free DLC which helps in a small way, and the rest of it is paid DLC which basically gives you various items of varying power, although you could easily earn them normally in the game anyway, it just gives you a shortcut if you don't mind spending money on it.
I myself went through without buying any of the extra DLC. :P

Well it's not for everyone, it's different after all but at it's core a bog standard niche RPG.

I think I've said it before, but Trinity Universe has one of my favorite battle systems. I seem to be one of the few remaining people that prefers turn-based combat, and I also loved stringing together the long combos. A lot like Xenosaga 2 now that I think of it, except better.

I also like the story and characters, but other factors like the dungeons and the game freezes keep me from rating the game too highly. I did enjoy it overall though.

I enjoyed every minute of the game. There are some things I would have liked to see done differently, but nothing that makes the game bad.

I love turn based more than any other style of RPGs, but I don't like the stringing combos together thing. It seems slow, and I wouldn't mind that if the I like the way the attacks looked which I didn't.

Some of the attacks look better than others, or at least different according to personal preference, as I for one really like Rizelea's flurries of sword strikes.

Well I haven't played far into the game at all but I like the story a lot. Tell me is there a way to skip the battle animations completely? I know I could get through the game if I could.

I'm pretty sure you can't skip your own characters animations apart from EX skills, mostly due to the way how the comboing works, although you can skip enemy animations, which are probably the thing that takes up a lot of time anyway, with L2.
There's also a setting in the options to make animations unskippable, skippable, or always skipped, although I can't see the point of having an 'unskippable' option when there's a 'skippable' one, but nevermind.
