I should emphasize that this is a story-focused game. The gameplay, while good, is not the main strength of the game. It's the combination of solid gameplay and strong story that makes the game shine.

The characters are unique. The characters learn new skills as they level up. It's been a while, so I don't remember the particulars. I know that Seinarukana awarded bonus skills for finishing a mission with a high grade, and depending on which character you gave the "point" to, a different skill unlocked. I don't remember if Aselia the Eternal does this.
