Famitsu confirmed that Gladiator Versus is as terrible as it looked, scoring the game a 6, 6, 6, and 5.

They gave the same score (maybe lower?) to Mk 2. So I'm really not worried about it.

oh well =P famitsu has fair scores with games too >.>
(mk2 is more driven on the fanbase than gameplay,which reviews are based on so mk2's score isnt too unfair)

HDN got 26/40 and mk2 got 28/40. A little higher, but the difference could mean it’s a worse game by general standards. Whatever, I’ll make my own decision after I see a trailer from NISA or something. *cough * vertical *cough *

A NISA trailer would be nice. And I don't really agree with famitsu a lot. They rated some games I love lower than 20. So, yeah.

Its all acording to what the game industry calls good.
Kinda like FFXIII, i personally find it awesome but some people find it horrible, it isnt going to change the ratings for the game.

@aprah: Im just saying, some of us on the forums thought it was gonna be a bad game and now a review says it as well, but yeah, if theres 1 thing i learnd, its to never trust game ratings =P

So...I've been playing the demo (it was recently released on the JP store)

And I gotta say...this is actually pretty addictive ~

There's a lot of interesting elements to it, and combat is actually pretty tough. Magic really spices things up as well as special attacks. And it's quite the problem to have gear ripped off you. Though, if they attack armor, torso armor seems to actually SHATTER! Though, you can buy it back at the end.

Another thing that's interesting, but helps to keep things from being too easy. Sure, when you finish a battle, there's usually tons of equipment lying around, BUT, you have to buy it if you want to secure the right to use it in a future fight. While you're in the fight, it's a free for all, and grab whatever you can though.

Also, damage to equipment IS cumulative, it doesn't automatically restore after a battle. There might be a way to pay to restore it, but I haven't been able to find one in the demo.

The character creation is fairly weak, but the different clothing and stuff can make up for that.

There's also weapon skills and magic skills, adn i think you have ot learn those by using the various things. Also, you can only have four weapon/magic skills equipped at a time, as well as four passive skills.

I'm not sure how leveling works either.

All in all, much better than it originally looked. Oh, and there's sometimes gems inside of equipment that gives you stat-boosts and whatnot.

If you have any other questions, I'll attempt to answer them, but I'd really suggest checking out the demo for yourself.

Wow, sounds interesting...hopefully NISA can release the demo over here too, might get em more sales...

The problem about the demo is that the game is a PS3 exclusive in Japan and so only a PS3 demo exists. So if the demo was released into America, that means Xbox 360 and PC owners would get screwed out of it.
