I would like to ask NISA to localize Robotics;Notes. I know this has a very slim chance since it's a visual novel. And they haven't touched anything by 5pb (not even Steins;Gate).But still....

I would like to see this localized. Even if it isn't (and though it probably won't be), I'm still preordering the JP limited edition as soon as it goes up. As some of you know, I'm a VN/5pb. freak and am eagerly awaiting each new game from them! ^_^ (Still wish I had gotten Dunamis LE while it was on playasia. dose headphonse.)

I would personally love the chance to work on any of 5pb's visual novel games, but sadly the reality of VN's on consoles in the west is...not hopeful.

I would like to see this game get localized too!~

@Houk - Would a PSN release of something like this, stand a chance of being profitable theoretically? I can understand the market would probably be fairly small for a VN, in NA. But a PSN DD only release would keep localization costs low.

I think the biggest problem would be the sheer amount of text involved with any Visual Novel.

Depends how long the game is. If it's really long or has lots of branching paths, it would be too much text probably. But of course games like RPG's have a lot of text too.

Visual Novel isn't the only genre that has a lot of text indeed, but on top of having a lot of text, it doesn't have enough demand for most of the companies, and about branching, Umineko no Naku Koro ni doesn't have a single branch, it's 100% straight-forward, yet it has tons of text.

I don't think there is/will be branching paths as in separate endings.

In comparison to Umineko, it's almost certain to be quite shorter. (I believe all 8 episodes are 100+ hours.)

The first four chapters of Umineko no Naku Koro ni result in 80 hours. I don't have a clue on how long the last four chapters are, but it's not a stretch to say that the entire series might be along 150+ hours, although this is not the right place to discuss that game.

I think PSN would be a great idea as you could charge anywhere between $30-$60 and you would have a decent chance of making profit.

After we got Record of Agarest War as DD-only, a game that's bigger than 10GB, and managed to sell a lot, I think size wouldn't be the biggest issue here.

I thought Agarest sold like shit on the PSN version (probably the reason why Sony changed their minds and let the sequels be on disc)?

Quite the contrary, it sold quite well for a DD-only game and SCEA allowed Aksys to release the next game physically without having to make them dub the entire game.
