So can only save at save spots in dungeons?

You can also save outside of dungeons, just press the triangle and go to the battle diary. Or if you are on the screen with the Dungeons etc. listed then click circle first to get out of it and then triangle. To get back to that screen just press square.

Ahh thanks, I noticed can also save in shops.
