Yeah, gald is scarce at first and mid game but disappeared at late game.
Try dualizing some stuff that can be sold for a hefty amount of gald.

This, on both accounts...sure, you deplete it fast near the end still, but you can get it back pretty quick...and I THINK there is a book that makes more gald drops, not 100% sure

Not 100% sure but IIRC, if you go into your library, you can check the list of qualities. I believe it listed the stats gained from it as well...?

I'd say that's about right, with the future arc included...I'm sitting at 50 hours now and haven't even finished the main arc heh
