Punting on this one

It was an anime I never saw when it was airing, I suppose what's made me punt for it now is how similar it is artistically to Ano Natsu de Matteru, which I did enjoy this season, I doubt some things will be quite as over the top as the last 2 episodes of Ano Natsu, but would you say this is money well spent for a blind delve into the unknown?

I liked both series. I don't want to give away anything (not that there's a whole lot to give away), so I'll avoid delving into too many details, but AnoHana is more of a tragic drama, while AnoNatsu is more like a soap. The story revolves around the various relationships the main characters have with each other and other residents of the town, as opposed to AnoNatsu focusing almost entirely on the development and interplay among the main cast.

Good eye! It's actually from the same character designer and the same director as Toradora and Ano Natsu de Matteru. Much like these other series, Anohana deals with relationships and features some very likable characters.

Also, Anohana is freaking sad. Like, so-sad-I-was-angry-at-myself-for-crying-at-the-end sad. Like I should have expected to be crying, and prepared myself, and not cried, and told myself "man up, dude. That's what they want," but ended up crying anyway. So, you know, I'm totally pre-ordering this, is what I'm saying.

Oh yeah, it does resemble the anime's art style as well. I think it makes me more confident in liking this.

I mean... Toradora was an adaptation of the light novels, whereas AnoHana and AnoNatsu are themselves original anime, so there's not really a guarantee of it being comparable. Unless you want to say Tanaka Masayoshi always finds really good series to design characters for. O.o

Heh, I guess that's what I'm basically saying, isn't it? Well let's see.

No way to tell. Opinions on the show are highly split and there's pretty much no middle-ground between love it and hate it.
Waiting on the other mk2 avatars.
