Right well that's exactly my point and the reason why I don't really care for most tactics / srpgs. It sort of feels like half the game is missing to me.

I haven't played a fighting game since the 32-bit era and haven't really enjoyed a fighting game since the 16-bit era, so I can't say. I have pretty much lost all interest in the genre.
But I'm specifically talking about RPGs. I feel like RPGs need to have towns / NPCs or an important dynamic is missing. It's just my opinion of course, but not one that's likely to change.

I'd be confused if there was a pure SRPG gamer, but I am gonna say that people who like SRPGs would get the most enjoyment out of Growlanser games heh
