Why does there have to be a single main character? Give both Neps Equal Screen time. They're better together.

On the other hand, here's so many characters give the player control of two different parties, switching between them and having an A and B version of each chapter.... but that's probably not stereotypical enough to fly.

Yes, and going beyond the basics and fully taking advantage of the medium you are using is one of the things that makes literature interesting and fun to read.

This hasn't stopped ensemble casts however.

But, either way, it's just our opinions. I'm surprised you didn't like EN Gear, but ah well. For me, she was better than the JP one ~

Uni <3

That honestly makes no bloody sense.

The series is named "Neptune", based upon the story/stories surrounding the character "Neptune", it's her series. Gear got time in the spotlight, but Neptune is the sole reason for this series existence.

Neptune is the face of the series, because it's entirely based around her. Even in Mk2, it was still about her and the CPUs, moreso

If Gear was the face of the series, the game would be called "Chou Jigen Game Nepgear" not "Chou Jigen Game Neptune".

Admittedly, I liked her for a bit, but she's not the type of character that I prefer. >_>

Objection! That's not always true. For example, in the Arc the Lad series Arc is only the protagonist in the first game. In Arc the Lad II Elc is the protagonist and Arc is reduce to a playable character. In Arc the Lad III Alec is the protagonist and Arc just makes a short cameo. I mean you could argue that Arc is the "face of the series" too but that doesn't mean everything has to revolve around him as the lead character. Hell Donkey Kong was kidnapped in Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3 and they still kept the name "Donkey Kong Country."

Unless I say a comment of mine is a generalization-- it's not.
I was only referring to the Neptune games thus far.

For the most part they have been focused around Neptune, yes, even Mk2. Since the plot was about saving her and the other CPUs. I realize that it's not always the case, but as far as Neptune is concerned-- it has been.

Arc the Lad and Arc the Lad II were clearly focused on Arc as well even though he wasn't the protagonist in the second one.

Seems a bit of a stretch to say the plot was focused around Nep. Considering it was all about the Candidates and how they grew, and how they became better friends.

The CPU's were basically almost just cameos for the story.

But, that's just how I saw it really. Positive that's not something anyone would agree on.

They were just additional playable characters.

Except that Gear's a better protag :P

Nepgear's too much of a crybaby. "I gotta save my sister this, I gotta save my sister that". Seriously, she cries when she sees her, and before the normal ending too.

I didn't belittle your opinion, I just said that Nepgear is too much of a crybaby. It is a possibility that Gear will be the protagonist for the next game, although I prefer Neptune over Gear.

The entire story-- or should I say the "Plot" was focused on saving the CPUs. Claiming that they were just cameos is far from accurate. From the first scene up to the moment when they are saved by the CPU candidates, they were the driving force behind the CPU candidate's actions.

The shares raising, and gathering the other CPUs helped to create a sharicite crystal so they could restore the CPUs power. How do people miss that? It's basically the entire reason for chapter 1, 2, and 3-- and at times it's blatant.

There was in between stuff where the CPU candidates grew to become better friends, and tolerate each other. But the plot revolved around them saving their sister's-- that said...

I don't look at anything as "additional" or "extra", there is a reason for everything as far as a story is concerned in my eyes. This time the CPUs were used as a plot device, but saying that's a mere "Cameo" or "Additional playable characters" is far from accurate no matter how you 'try' and put it.

That's just how you see it. To me, the sharicite/whatever was just sub plot. The real stuff that mattered was the growth of them and stuff. There's a reason I'm such a fan of Slice of life shows like Im@s and such, because I care more about relationships between people than the 'danger' that they're in.

I really don't get how you can say "That's just how you see it".

Histoire's mission she assigned to Gear was to amass shares so they could create a new Sharicite. All the other things just happen while she is working to achieve that goal.
