Because having a protagonist is a basic literary concept.

But, either way, it's just our opinions. I'm surprised you didn't like EN Gear, but ah well. For me, she was better than the JP one ~
Uni <3
That honestly makes no bloody sense.
The series is named "Neptune", based upon the story/stories surrounding the character "Neptune", it's her series. Gear got time in the spotlight, but Neptune is the sole reason for this series existence.
Neptune is the face of the series, because it's entirely based around her. Even in Mk2, it was still about her and the CPUs, moreso
If Gear was the face of the series, the game would be called "Chou Jigen Game Nepgear" not "Chou Jigen Game Neptune".
Admittedly, I liked her for a bit, but she's not the type of character that I prefer. >_>
Objection! That's not always true. For example, in the Arc the Lad series Arc is only the protagonist in the first game. In Arc the Lad II Elc is the protagonist and Arc is reduce to a playable character. In Arc the Lad III Alec is the protagonist and Arc just makes a short cameo. I mean you could argue that Arc is the "face of the series" too but that doesn't mean everything has to revolve around him as the lead character. Hell Donkey Kong was kidnapped in Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3 and they still kept the name "Donkey Kong Country."

MizuMikomi wrote:For the most part they have been focused around Neptune, yes, even Mk2. Since the plot was about saving her and the other CPUs. I realize that it's not always the case, but as far as Neptune is concerned-- it has been.[/color]

They were just additional playable characters.vampko wrote:The CPU's were basically almost just cameos for the story.

Except that Gear's a better protag

vampko wrote:Seems a bit of a stretch to say the plot was focused around Nep. Considering it was all about the Candidates and how they grew, and how they became better friends.
The CPU's were basically almost just cameos for the story.
But, that's just how I saw it really. Positive that's not something anyone would agree on.

vampko wrote:That's just how you see it. To me, the sharicite/whatever was just sub plot. The real stuff that mattered was the growth of them and stuff. There's a reason I'm such a fan of Slice of life shows like Im@s and such, because I care more about relationships between people than the 'danger' that they're in.
