I'd like to see some Weapon+armor magichange (as seen in Marona's 3rd skill).
Would be interesting to see most monsters like that.

On that note, make armor as a whole more important. Right now, it's just kinda... there.

It may just be me, but the next game should really have more monster and humanoid classes. They cut back a good chunk from Disgaea 3. D4 has no new monsters, it brings back one from Disgaea 1 but also tosses out a few that were in D2 and D3.

I don't think it has the multi-attack thing either (the combo attacks that D3 had) but I don't really miss those, some felt kind of silly.

That's a good point we need more classes next time. I personally want an HD berserker in D5.

The combo attacks were fun I think. Some of the combined attack names were funny though.

It may sound silly, but I've always wanted a permanent "Saucy Mao" class. That'd be badass.

Have some suggestions here. Most of these are focused on providing extra tactical options for player and enemy alike.

1. Better balance: The series starts becoming an offense only affair around the post game and may have become worse in D4. The core problem revolves around the skill upgrade system progressing way too high (the problem seems to start once the modifer goes to 300%). IMO, the upgrade progression should be a flat 10% boost per rank to specials and a flat 5% boost per rank for spells. This would also solve the problem of magic being quite underpowered (starting with D3) in comparison. Fixing this balance problem would also increase the viability of medics and support characters (typically the optimal counter measure to tanks, especially de-buffers). Spears in general need a buff.

2. Double Actions: Actions that require both a characters actions to use. For example, includes running (a double move), using a heavy weapon (give up movement to use), doing an assault jump (flying units only such as angels, dragons, etc, combines movement with an AOE normal attack upon landing, also have infinite jump since you're flying to the location).

3. Cover: Provides an evade bonus (attacks that miss strike the cover instead) from ranged attacks coming from a certain direction. Countered by up close attacks, spells, attacking from a different direction, destroying the object providing cover (objects providing cover should vary greatly in durability), or using a fist special move to knock them out of it.

4. New weapon types: Heavy weapons (like big machine guns, bazookas, etc), spliting guns into different sub-types (pistols, rifles, etc.).

5. Increased sprite animations. The sprites are fantastic, but just need some more animation).

6. Over Watch: The ability to forgoe an offensive action to prepare an reaction if an enemy comes within range (low grade specials can be used for this). Facing determines what a unit can target with over watch. Countered by flanking or throwing an ally past line of sight.

7. Smarter AI/higher difficulty: IMO, ideally, D5's difficulty would be at somewhere between Mega Man Zero and Demon's Souls (two examples of high difficulty done right as they focus on being "hard but never unfair" with the later game's objective being to teach the player to think tactically, being like that stern teacher that puts their students through the ringer but does so because they truly want said students to succeed).

8. Revert LoC unlocking to the D3 incarnation.

On the smarter AI, I'd say make that a senate thing like with stronger enemies.

A counter-attack cancel might be a good thing; can't say how often I yelled at the tv for the characters to stop doing counter-attacks back and forth (it screwed with my strategy a few times if some of the "decoys" got taken out during their first turn).

I think the counter attack cancel would make the game to easy.

I mean only able to cancel your own counter attacks not the enemy AI's.

I think he got that. Either way, it'll make the game too easy. Yes, it's annoying but it is a valid part of the challenge. It's something to plan strategies around. For example, my "decoy" unit is usually someone with a low counter chance, like Emizel.

Well, here of some of my suggestions:
Fully customizable characters! Who wouldnt love that?
Built in depth online feature. The Disgaea 4 one was a step foward, but I really want an online feature in which we could battle one another. That would be cool. :D

Something tells me that if they haven't done it in 4 installments, they probably don't intend to.

Not really an improvement, but in another game I'd like to see the god race be part of it, *the race Gig belongs too*, they have established that aside from (God) there is a race of gods, right along side angels and demons; so having one of them be in the group in the next game and maybe part of the story. I could see a rivalry between the gods and angels over being the stewards of various human worlds.

No, I think that would lessen the impact of the D4 crew pissing off "God".

How? they ALREADY established that there is a race of gods in the NIS multi-verse; they are mentioned in Disgaea 3 and Disgaea 4 (even the aliens mention them).

Gig is from this race, which was prominant in Soul Nomad.

*PS: I hate the fact that the english language only has one word for a diety *that's latin by the way*. God, gods, goddess, goddesses. People hear these and think omnipotent. Where as in most cultures there were various names for the various (levels) of gods.

Personally I prefer the term "Kami". You can have things from enlightened human souls, elemental spirit like beings, clear up to things that would be familiar to Western pantheons, and then even higher up the pole to celestial overseer type beings.
