Oreki Hotaro is a high school boy, who always acts passively. One day, he enters "Koten Bu (Classic Literature Club)" as recommended by his elder sister.

There he meets Chitanda Eru, Fukube Satoshi, and Ibara Mayaka. Chitanda is a calm beautiful girl but she turns into an embodiment of curiosity once she says, "I'm interested in it (Watashi, Kininarimasu)". Fukube is a smiling boy with a fantastic memory, he never deduces anything on his own. Ibara is a short girl and is strict with others and herself. She loves Fukube, but he always dodges her approaches.

They begin to investigate a case that occurred 33 years ago. Hints of the mystery are buried in an old collection of works of the former members of Koten Club. The collection is titled "Hyouka".

From what I've read, the animation is amazing/gorgeous, though I didn't read much about what happened the actual episode. There aren't any Raws/Subs of Ep 1 yet, but there was a live stream. Gonna have to wait for the episode releases.

Just watched episode one. I would definitely say this anime has some of the best animation quality of the season. The character design seems to be something along the lines of a less moe K-On design, Though it works fine for me.

Though the show is kinda pulling the KyoAni fan boys out and dragging long the haters. Expecting... a lot of negativity in future discussions (on other sites), which there already appears to be a bit.

I'm wondering what the 'real' mystery is? Where this will lead and stuff. So far it just seems that Chitanda's been testing Oreki all this time actually.

The production quality in this show is amazing. Reminds me of Bakemonogatari, although less abstractly SHAFT.

Until they otherwise lay it out in the open, this feels similar to Inu x Boku SS, where the primary focus is on the characters rather than the plot, which is perfectly fine with me. I'm too busy admiring the visuals anyway

Honestly, the first scene and Chitanda's request kind of disappointed me... I was quite hyped, so I was expecting something like "find the truth behind 2012 and save the world" At the end of the episode I changed my mind though, this can still be very interesting.

I didn't watch the preview, but I dunno. Something still seems pretty off. I'm thinking there's a lot more to this story than it seems on the surface. Not sure if one episode will solve that or not.
