Anime actually resemble real Japanese people quite a lot. Sure, they're more colorful than Japanese, but in terms of body/facial structure and other things, they most definitely look like Japanese people. There's not really a 'pandering to westerners' like you stated at all.

Well there are many examples, like Fatal Frame for example, they are more animeish looking than natural. I haven't seen any Japanese girls with eyes that big and face structure like that (well at least some of the designs. They do the hair good, though). Fatal Frame character designs look like cartoons compared to things like Shenmue (which is weird because some designs in that look more natural than others.)
another example Dead or Alive obviously.
a big example are DYNASTY WARRIORS and SAMURAI WARRIORS (most of them appearance don't even pass for chinese/japanese, you can't deny they at least partially westernized their designs.)
there are a few exceptions like Okuni, but there examples in the industry how westernized asian characters really are in some videogames.
Of course I don't mean all.

Yes.
I'm looking forward to this as a fan of the Yakuza series. Supposedly, Haruka's story is her going to Osaka to try and become an idol. It'll be interesting if she actually fights. I hear Yakuza 5 is taking place 2 years after Yakuza 4 so who knows how she has changed.

Yeah but it talks about how things don't go as planned. So, I'm sure she fights
She can always be a fighting idol?

I don't know... The Yakuza series is pretty ridiculous at times, but it's also full of gun-wielding murderers and children are usually portrayed relatively realistically. While beating down low-level thugs as a 14-year old girl could be fun, it'd be an odd choice for a series that's known for portraying Yakuza and their situations in a realistic light.
