I maye be a bit late to the party, but I recently sprinted through the series on ANN.com. (I haven't played the game, so I have no doubt spoiled all manner of details from Persona 4 Golden; but it was worth it.)

Actually, I was surprised to note that Narukami Yu is voiced by Namikawa Daisuke; and he even has a "Velvet" Room he goes into, heh.

Actually, one thing I wonder about is if the animators will throw in any Easter egg references to any of the new content set for Golden, or to the run-up to Arena, in the upcoming True End special. (Or if there would be enough demand for an animated follow-up, based on either Arena or Persona x Detective.)

Spoiler:
Persona 3 The Movie

Here's the post from that forum:

Hey guys, guess what? Those clamoring for an animated version of the Persona 3 game are finally going to get it. A feature film based on the plot of Persona 3 was teased at the very end of Persona 4 ~The Factor of Hope~.

The pages below are in Japanese, but thanks to a fellow on another forum, apparently they have the confirmation on this bit of news:

http://0taku.livedoor.biz/archives/4215544.html
http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-10069.html

I'm absolutely ecstatic for this. Even if it is just a movie and not a 2-cour season show like P4 got, I'm delighted my favorite Persona game is getting animated in some form.~

Since we have P4 and finally a P3 movie coming, I wonder if any of the other games will get this treatment? Give me a devil survivor or devil summoner anime/movie and I would buy it instantly. Anyway this release will probably get placed at the bottom of my purchase list as it is least favorite persona(blasphemy to the fandom I'm sure). :D

Quoting what I wrote on Facebook.

Warning, in-coming rant.

Spoiler:
I'm seriously disappointed in Yu Narukami's personality in the animation and some of the characters are slightly changed to fit with a certain audience. I think I'll stick with Persona 4's video game as my current canon. The anime was good, but I consider myself a purist and my headcanon Seta Souji will forever be the better protagonist.

It's not that I hate that he is voiced in the anime, it's that I just hate his personality. He's not like I played him in the game and it annoyed me to no end.

I didn't play the womanizer type (my Souji didn't had the time for dates since
he was always working part-time on multiple jobs), I didn't like how rude he was to Kanji in the tent, I also didn't like how "dumb" they wrote him at moments. Yes he had funny lines, but it clearly isn't the same character I played and it alienated me.

His "badass moments" inside the Midnight Channel, I can deal with... But seriously? Wearing the glasses in the real world, trying to do his stuff, like fishing in the evening or The King segment...? No. No. No. *shakes his head* That was pointless.

I did enjoy the anime but not some of the changes. Feel free to disagree, but it's just how I felt. It honestly polluted my experience with Persona 4: The Animation. I'm not sure if I'm looking forward Persona 4: Golden, I wasn't interested in Persona 4: Arena. Dunno, I'll see. I guess I'm one of the rare persons who actually preferred the original game better. *shrugs*

Well I understand your problem, for me
Spoiler:
I hated, despised, loathed the Main character on P4. He was easily the worst character in the game for me. That was a big reason why I was really hesitant to watch this. BUT, they ended up making Yu a much more likeable person to me, which is a good thing. The only real problem I had with the show, is the whole battle system. It's horrid and I have no clue why they went with it, when P4G and Arena are actually showing how the characters can fight.

But, since I went from despising the guy in the game, to finding him likeable in the anime, there definitely was a huge personality shift there.

I finally decided to give this a watch, after putting it off for so long.

I kind enjoyed it. Mainly because I love dead-pan humor sometimes (Hata from SYD comes to mind), and that kind of thing seemed to fit Yu well, IMO. It's mainly just preference. For a game -> anime adaptation though, I think I enjoyed it way more than I expected it to... though my expectations were kind of low to begin with. I mean, I'd definitely never choose it over the game, but it's definitely good enough to pass the time with, IMO.

There's one thing I definitely can't complain about, and it's the animation / art direction. I was definitely happy that they stuck with it, and it made me feel a lot better after Im@s' crappy game -> anime animation/art direction change. :P

Also...
Spoiler:
Detective Nanako is best Nanako. <3

Anywho, I have the first DVD set pre-ordered. I liked it enough to buy it.

I don't get why you hate the Im@s animation so much...

I do agree that they pulled the animation/art direction off well for this show. The whole protagonist thing is going to be different for everyone. As everyone had their own interpretation of the MC.

I guess if I wasn't such a fan of the main game itself, I wouldn't had been so upset about this animation. It's still good, but I don't like how they just changed a lot of scenes and the protagonist. I loved interpreting his personality in my mind while I played the game and I knew they would change him for the animation, but I still got disappointed. I'm still quite hesitant about the Persona 3 movie.
