It's nice hearing some confirmation from the developers themselves. :D I hope that we get even more news soon. I can't wait to try out this game!

It's nice to hear from the devs themselves. But I'll believe it more when I actually see some progress.

That's true. Really looking forward to this like everyone else apparently. I had a hard time getting into the anime at all, but just one trailer got me hooked on this game. I even bought a mem. card just to make sure I could get this game.

Was the anime really that bad? The OVA looked pretty good and the game looks really action packed. So wouldn't the anime be awesome?

The problem is that the "source material" is a song and accompanying music video. There's no base continuity, so the OVA and the anime series weren't connected. I really liked the premise in the OVA, but the anime was overly confusing to me, which is probably because they tried to give the long series some depth when most people were just looking for battles between BRS characters.

The anime wasn't bad, by any means. However, I think a lot of people who watched the OVA first were disappointed or, like dood, had a hard time really getting into it.

I watched the anime first, and thus found the OVA underwhelming
LOVED the anime though ~

I watched the OVA before the anime. And I still thought the anime was waaaay better. I don't understand the hate it get's when compared to the OVA.

The only thing the OVA has over the anime is looks.

I guess people didn't want a story or character development?

They just wanted to see BRS/Etc battle it out

Myskaros hits the nail on the black, twin-tailed haired head. It's not that it was entirely bad, it's just that it suffered from trying to add things that would start it off to a really slow start.
For instance, the entire first episode is opened on a twisted dreamscape with imagery relating to the "nemesis" of BRS. It's desolate and extravagant, even though I wish they'd have used less CG and more drawn animation. Then, without any warning, we're thrust into a high school setting with a generic "be my friend?" theme and a heroine with the personality of an adorable ten year old.
...What? What just happened? I might have missed something here, since I had to go to the Emergency room for WHIPLASH!

That being said, I've read up on the anime and have seen clips from later in the series. It really looks good, and one evil-character reveal I've read up on is really interesting. I mean "Psycho Adachi Reveal" type interesting. But I can't get into it because of how slow it started off and how disconnected that first episode was. Yeah the OVA was disconnected, but since it was an OVA it got to the point faster than a series. I don't know. Maybe I was able to forgive the OVA since it was my introduction to the BRS line.
Just saying it's not my cup of tea. The game, however, is totally down my alley.

I actually really wanted character development, but of the BRS characters I'd seen already. I mean look at them! There's no way people looking like that don't have complex characters.
From what I hear there's better character development later on in the series, but the pilot turned me off too much.

The OVA had little character development and barely any plot. The anime fixes all of that, and gives even more characters to fall in love with~

It's a HIGHLY psychological show. So, at first glance it might seem 'schizophrenic' and a 'mess', but it was meant to seem schizophrenic.

You have to keep on watching to get why though.

I haven't had a chance to watch the anime yet, but I'd be lying if I said that the action wasn't what attracted me to the ova and this game in the first place. That and the twin tails...

Character development in a setting I care about is good. I just didn't care about any of the human characters, and I didn't care about their connection with the BRS universe. Unfortunately, they forced me to care if I wanted to know what was going on in the BRS world, which was not something I really appreciated.

To me, the human relationships in the anime were like a bad soap opera, with all the complicated connections between characters and semi-ridiculous setup. The OVA only had a few characters, so it was able to focus on Matou's and Yomi's relationship, whereas the anime had some ridiculous drama with the inclusion of Kagari, Saya, and Yuu/Strength's mindfuck relationships. There's nothing wrong with the drama, I'm just not a fan, therefore I didn't enjoy the anime as much.

It probably does have at least a little to do with watching order. Since I saw the OVA first, I was expecting something closer to the OVA. All the additional elements in the anime didn't add anything for my viewing pleasure, so it ranked lower. If you saw the anime first and liked it, the OVA must have seemed pretty barebones. /shrug
