Umineko no Naku Koro ni, translated as When the Seagulls Cry, is a popular doujin visual novel series that was originally created by 07th Expansion for the PC, and has since been adapted into an anime and manga series. The masterpiece series has been remade for the PS3 (and now the PSP) by Alchemist under the title Umineko no Naku Koro ni ~Rondo of the Witch and Reasoning~. The remake of the PS3 version contains the first four of the novels-- the question arcs.



I don't mind it if this is only released over the PSN, as long as I can get this game in my house, with English text! Just that much is fine enough for me.

The fan base for this series is huge, so this game would sell no matter how it's distributed, be it in stores or online. And I'm going to do my best to demonstrate to NIS just how much the world loves this series, so expect a lot of bumps and linking and overall obsessive campaigning.

I'm going to be optimistic here~ With Disgaea Infinite being confirmed for localization, I think it's only a matter of time before visual novels get some of the love they deserve. North America has a lot of VN fans already, but as they are never localized, they either have to become bilingual (if they aren't already) or play the novel blindly.

Because of their localization of the game, I have faith that NISA will at least consider localizing Umineko. NIS, unlike another game company I know--COUGHNAMCOBANDAICOUGH-- actually seems to care about the fans, the gamers. That's why I'm here. :3 Now we just have to demonstrate to NISA just how amazing this franchise is.

And I've played the original Umineko VNs. The art's pretty easy to get used to. 8D

Disgaea Infinite wasn't just confirmed, it was released. Sure it's psp vs ps3, which the psp has better chances of picking up niche games, but we have to start somewhere. Let's have the PS3 be as great as the PS2 in terms of variety of games.

I highly recommend that no one does this. The anime is awful. It's so bad that 2ch rated it the worst anime last year. It's so bad that the DVD and blu-ray sales aren't ranked, and you only need to sell 600 copies to be ranked. That's pathetic. It's so God-awful that it's a mediocre series in its own right and one of the most downright awful adaptations in existence. Do not waste your initial exposure to Umineko on something so bad. Play the VN instead. Watch the anime afterward if you feel like you still need to.

...I will agree that the OP is good, but you can just watch that on YouTube. Also, the OP for the question arcs in the VN is a different (but better) song also sung by Akiko Shikata, so you can get your fill of her in the VN, too.

So...I've seen my brother watching bits and pieces of the anime, but I really have no clue what this is about. Could someone just give me a quick summary of the premise? I think it's about a murder or something, or rather a series of murders? I can't really remember much of it.

There are a series of muders on a island that suddenly gets isolated from the world. It's then that the viewer must say if the reason of the murders is magic or another human being. Something like that.

Oh, and I forgot to say that most of Umineko and Higurashi's games are on the PC, so seeing this game on the PS3 is a good thing for console owners.
