PS3? No wait, let me try that again.

PS3?!?!

A definite Day 1 buy for me. Really wish this game gets localized, or else I'll be forced to import. :(

Yes, PS3. I was a bit surprised as well, but seeing that there were PS2 versions of Higurashi, I was kinda hoping for this. :D

If we're lucky enough to get a localization, I hope they don't botch up the title if they decide to translate it to English (most likely, of course).

When the Seagulls Cry > When They Cry 3.........ORL

Better yet, keep it the original Japanese title. :)

I wouldn't mind them translating the title to When the Seagulls Cry. I'd also be happy with just Umineko, When They Cry: Umineko, or Umineko: When They Cry. I'm not too picky. =w=

Yeeeeah, even though I'm really pushing for a localization, I'm going to import it anyway. Just in case. And I heard somewhere that all pre-orders come with red and blue pens of truth. >o>!

That's the right way to think! I hope this, and many other great games come out during the PS3's life time! Let's make the PS3's game library blow the PS2's out of the water!

You know that's impossible, although I would like a little more variety.

Seriously. That's what I heard from two different forums, anyhow. They probably say something about it on the official Alchemist website. I should track it down and link it here. :3

Yeah I REALLY want to see this localized! I love Umineko, and getting to purchase the PS3 version of it in a languege I can actually understand would be amazing. I would even settle for a PSN Japanese audio only version as long as the text was still in English.

I wont say its impossible, but a very hard goal to achieve. But ultimately depends on Sony and games developers.

Thanks for sharing this SergeantBooduce. Never heard of this before but it has gained my interest. I think VN's have a good chance at present to gain appeal thanks to the info the internet provides and this title seems worthy in trying out. I also would be satisfied if it were to be released as a DD game for starters.

I think that the PS3 version might possibly receive a translation patch, considering that it's actually possible to do so now. This, on top of the fact that there is already a full English translation for the majority of the episodes, on top of how there's no ero, means a translation patch or localization might come to light.

Honestly though, it's entirely in the hands of Witch-Hunt. A company, not necessarily NISA but any one in particular, would have to buy the translation script from Witch-Hunt much like how XSEED bought the Ys Felghana English patch. Ryukishi07 is already aware of Witch-Hunt's English translation patches and seems to be fine with them.

Umineko is possibly one of the most recognized visual novels in the western fanbase, and although the transition to PS3 is weird and confusing--since most visual novels are for 360--a lot of visual novel fans tend to have PS3s over 360s.

In short, NISA would have to buy the translation off Witch-Hunt, Ryukishi07 would have to approve of the localization as well, since... well, he created the games. Apparently Alchemist have no English division for their releases, so they wouldn't be a problem.

I would buy this if it were digital download, but a disc would be better.

You make a good point. I'll go ahead and add Witch-Hunt to the links in my OP.

I'm not sure how Witch-Hunt feels about this, though. Would they support selling their patch to a company? And what if the PS3 version's dialogue differs from the original in some spots?
