How to get into a lurker fight (the guaranteed way & using search doesn't really help):
1. Get to the hunting spot.
2. Kill all the hunting spot monsters.
3. Get to the dungeon level's boss and kill it. (If you want it to appear more quickly, destroy the gravity core if the dungeon is not anchored. Then it will appear within 20 seconds at most).
Within 1 to three minutes the lurker will appear. Watch the dark for it indicates which way it is. If you want to fight it, just walk towards the dark aura until it covers the entire screen. While the dark aura is either chasing you or you walking towards it, there are no random battles (in case the hunting spot's "enemy aura is no more" effect ceases).

How to beat a lurker:
ALL lurkers are 20-25 levels above that of the highest level monster in the dungeon you are at. Example: Yoma King Castle, L4: Monster Rm's monsters max level is 9, so the lurker there is Lv 29 or 34, therefore, to beat it you need to be at least Lv 40 or so.

The game recommends you to start with Kanata, but if you want to get lurker only spoils and exp early on, go Rizelea's way first. Her meteorite synth makes it far more easy to beat these monsters early on. Synth EXPerience star and DROP star meteorites and fill your first meteorite ring with them (this will give you the regenerate hp effect), if you can also make the second meteorite ring, use only another one of those to get Kouhoutek which recovers the image gauge each turn. This first setup will make it so you will get the most exp and drops from enemy, boss or lurker battles. You have to get the Sakura, Alchemy, Moe Blob and Sushi managraphics to make the next step more easy.

When you see the Stardust Station dungeon drift in, anchor it right away, because in its 47 level monster floor you can fight the Astral dragon boss which when beaten will always give you a Divine Perfume which is the rare ingredient for the dark matter meteorite (which requires the sakura, alchemy, moe blob and sushi mana and is the third best ATK enhancing one). When you have synthed 5 of those, give them all to Lucius and see him make mincemeat of all lurkers below Lv 60. If you want even more chances, synth the Gaea Star ones and chuck them all onto Rizelea (have her fitted with Escape, Cure Space and Item skills) and have her always go first (this way she can survive and escape or heal all if needed).

This setup had me killing (and levelling up) lurkers like crazy and getting even more synth materials for cooler weapons and armor. I did this in my first playthrough and by the endgame, Rizelea had almost 80,000 HP, Lucius almost 45,000 ATK and with those two going first, almost nobody survived the onslaught.

Nice tips, I just did the hit and run tactics and took on lurkers far above my level just fine. I didn't bother with all that synthing and whatnot.

Been trying to fight them the same way,but they still run away...When the dark aura appears,I keep running towards it,but still the lurker says some phrases once in a while, then disappears.I wish there was a surefire way to do it,like sitting still, but even then they might run away!(really unlucky...)

Think of it like this:

The dark aura points exactly towards the lurker location much like the search function's lightbeams do. It helps greatly if you already have the map for the dungeon you are exploring, also some lurkers seem to be able to pass through walls, some "chase" you and some others you have to run after. One thing that really helps is that if the message "The dark aura is no more" appears, just waste time walking in your current location and let a little time pass... The dark aura will reappear at a much nearer location or even right next to you (don't try this while having destroyed the gravity core or you'll drift away with the dungeon for sure. Maybe you have never, but it is MIGHTLY costly... Exactly 30% of your total Gala to get rescued).

The harder lurker "finding" times are when you are in a "lots of rooms with narrow corridors" (Blackhole High, Yoma King Castle, Mew Ghost Ship, etc). type of dungeons and the easiest are the "way too much open space" ones (Stardust station, MK III, Acropolis Garden, Ancient Ruins, etc).

Also, if you want, waste a lot of time in Yoma King Castle Lv. 3 and stock up on Crystals and Ether Bloods for your meteorite rings, and if you come across MK III, anchor it and waste time in its Monster Level 30ish-40ish floor for Science Crystals. If you get the 2nd meteorite rings early on, lurker fights become a joke by the time you reach Lv. 70.

Oh, I beat many lurkers, but I just found them harder than the dungeon bosses.
