Basic System

◆Destroy Flocks of Enemies!
Basic Battle Systems and Demonic Tactics!

Battles are fought strategy RPG-style on a gridded map. Turns alternate between the player's and enemy's turn, in which all units per side get to act on their turn.

Battles and winning are simple!
Approach your enemies, beat them, and...
Win!

Of course there are going to be stronger enemies, but use demonic tactics to achieve victory!

◆Demonic Tactics! Team Attacks and Combos

【Team Attacks】
Battle 101: Fight one on more than one to your advantage!
When attacking an enemy, move ally characters next to the attacking character. This can cause the ally characters to join in on the attack! (Picture 1)
Team attacks don’t count as actions for the allies, so this is a very efficient and effective way to deal damage!
If ☆ is the attacker and the green characters are allies, there is a chance to trigger a team attack!

【Combo】
If you are going to attack the same enemy, do it in a row and with the same use of Execute. You will deal bonus damage depending on the number of consecutive attacks!

◆Demonic Tactics! Attack Placement!

【Side Attacks and Back Attacks】
By attacking enemies from the side or back, you will deal more damage.
Also, if you attack an enemy from higher ground, you will also deal more damage.
Find the perfect spot to attack enemies from to gain an advantage! Always look for a weak spot!

From the back!

From above!

Special Skills

◆Use Specials to Destroy Swarms of Enemies!

Special Skills aren't just there to show over-the-top animations, they also do massive damage!

【Unique Character Skills】
These are Specials that only that character can use!
The higher you level, the more Skills you'll learn!
Needless to say, they're very strong, but they're also very unique!
These skills aren't always just for dealing damage. Some characters have healing Specials.
Make sure to take note of your Specials when choosing which units to dispatch!

There are also Spells, Weapon Skills, and Skills you do with your teammates!
There will be more info on this coming soon! Please look forward to it!

Lift & Throw

◆Lift and Throw! Turn the Tide of Battle!

Of all the things you can do in battle, Lift & Throw are two of the most unique commands.
As you may have guessed, you can Lift and Throw other characters.
You can Throw enemies far away, or Throw your own units to an advantageous spot!
So, even those little islands on the map that seem impossible to get to are actually accessible.
Learning to use this mechanic well could turn an unfavorable situation into an advantageous situation!

Lift and Throw an ally character, and...

Bam! You have a height advantage!

You can Lift a character Lifting another character, thus creating a human tower!
You can also attack like this!

Bonus Gauge

◆If You Do Well in Battle, You'll Have a Bonus Waiting for You!?

【Bonus Gauge and Levels】
By using items and attacking enemies, you'll fill up the Bonus Gauge.
As the Bonus Gauge fills up, its level will increase.
When you clear a stage, depending on the Bonus Gauge Level, you'll get items, EXP, or other bonuses.
There are many ways to fill the Bonus Gauge.
Try different things to get more bonus items!

You can check the Bonus List during battle. If you see an item you want, will you be even more motivated!?

When you clear a stage, depending on the Bonus Gauge Level, you'll get prizes!
From the Results Screen, in addition to seeing the bonuses you're getting, you'll see nifty illustrations of different characters interacting!

Weapons

◆What Weapon Will You Choose!?

There are 8 different kinds of weapons that characters can equip!
Fists, Swords, Spears, Bows, Guns, Axes, Staves, and one new type of weapon that is new to this series.

Each weapon type has its own unique properties.
Humanoid characters can equip any type of weapon, but each character will only have a limited number of weapon types that they are good with. Equipping them with weapons they're good with will allow them to get more out of their weapon.

【Sword】
The most standard of all melee weapons.
Nothing really stands out about it, but it also doesn't really have any weaknesses either.
It's really easy to use.
The look of Swords range from something a knight would use in the west to a sword a samurai would use in the east!

【Axe】
Smash enemies with all your might!
In terms of damage, it's probably the strongest of all weapon types.
Characters can crit easier with an Axe, and as an additional effect, its attacks can lower the DEF of enemies.
However, since Axes are heavy, characters must sacrifice some SPD in order to use them.

【Gun】
Futuristic weapons that can attack enemies from a distance.
Their attack range is limited to straight lines, but they have the longest range of any weapon type.
On top of that, the closer characters are to their targets, the more damage they'll deal. Depending on the situation, you can play around with the distances!

【Fist】
A weapon that relies on SPD and extra attacks to deal more damage.
Damage from Fists depend on the character's ATK, as well as SPD.
When using a Fist, there is chance of doing multiple attacks.

【Spear】
Has superior reach and can pierce through multiple enemies.
The attacker doesn't need to be next to its target, so it's good when you don't want to be counter attacked. It can also attack enemies that are either really high, or really low compared to the character.
If there is a unit between the attacker and the target, the Spear will also hit the unit between them.

【Staff】
The Staff greatly increases the magic power of the character that uses it. Magic users will find them very useful. It can be used as a melee weapon, but its damage is based on the wielder's INT.

【Bow】
A long range weapon that allows characters to attack from a distance. It is less affected by height differences than other weapons, making it ideal for really bumpy stages. It's also useful for backing up other characters from afar.

◆A New Way of Fighting Has Been Introduced to the Netherworld—With Books!
Use Summon Spells Wisely!

【Book】
The new weapon is the Book! Its unique style is using summoning attacks. Even the most normal looking books can become the strongest weapon on the battlefield!
Out of its pages come monsters and spirits!
For example, you can summon a salamander fire beast to deal massive damage! There are many types of books ranging from demon text books to magical manuscripts! Some books are worthy of being weapons, but some are just ridiculous to use as weapons.
Just like Staves, Books can also be used as blunt weapons! Imagine getting hit by the corner! Yikes!

◆The More Use a Weapon, the More Skills You'll Learn With it!

Each character will get better at using weapons the more they use them. As your experience with a weapon (Weapon Mastery) increases, characters will learn more weapon-specific Special Skills.
If that character is also good with that weapon (Weapon Aptitude), their Weapon Mastery will increase faster, thus they'll learn how to use that weapon to its full potential faster!

◆Super Fancy Weapon Specials!

Spells

◆Super Fancy and Devastating "Spells"!

Along with weapons, Weapon Skills, and Unique Skills, there are Spells that characters can cast, too!
The main difference between Spells and other Specials is that they are learned by magic using units as they level up.
They can also be transferred to other characters by using the Master and Apprentice system, allowing non-magic using units to learn Spells.

Spells aren't limited to those that attack enemies. Spells can heal ally units, or even change the stats of both allies and enemies!
Having at least one unit who can learn Spells will give you a big advantage in battle.

【High Area, High Power!】
One of the biggest appeals of using Spells is their areas of effect and high power!
When they first learn a Spell, the area they can cast it is small, but as they use it over and over again, they'll be able to effect a larger area!

【Super Fancy Animations!】
As they level up, units can learn higher tier Spells.
The higher the tier of the Spell, the fancier their animation gets! Make sure to check out the animations for the top tier Spells.

Elemental Attacks

◆Deal Massive Damage to Enemies With Elemental Damage! Harness the Elements to Your Advantage!

Spells, Weapon Skills, and Unique Skills can all have elements.
There are five types of attacks, elementally speaking: Fire, Water, Wind, Star, and Non-Elemental.
Make sure to exploit the enemy's weaknesses to get the upper hand in battle!

You can check their elemental resistance here.

You'll only deal this much...

Unless you exploit their weakness!

Mounting & Mounted Skills

◆The Mounting System!

Monster units can now carry humanoid units on their backs! This system is called the Mounting System!

While a human is mounted on them, monsters can still move around and fight. The unit that is mounted on the monster unit can attack and still use some Specials.

While Mounted, the two units' likeability increases faster, and depending on how much they like each other, their stats will increase.
By using the Mounting System, you will be able to fight against stronger enemies!

While Mounted, earned EXP is doubled.

Stats increase and Mounted Skills are handy!

【A Mounting Original!】
Make your own original units and original teams!
Change things around by Mounting!

Mothman Army, charge!

A Dragon Knight!

◆Mounted Skills!
A Humanoid and Monster, Fighting as One!

Not only does Mounting allow stronger stats and faster likeability increases, it also has its own Special Skills!
They are called Mounted Skills!
Mounted Skills are Specials that a monster and a humanoid do together. Depending on how much they like each other, the damage will fluctuate! Each monster has its own unique Mounted Skill.

【Mounted Skills】
Monsters can use Mounted Skills when they are mounted by a character!
The higher the likeability between the two characters, the more damage the Mounted Skill will deal.
Start pairing a monster with a humanoid and keep dishing out those Mounted Skills!

The Nekomata's Mounted Skill!

The Mothman's Mounted Skill!

The Succubus' Mounted Skill!

Geo Effects

◆The Colorful Panels and Symbols Have Effects That are Just as Colorful!

In the Netherworld where Laharl and company roam, there are places where the ground is colorful. These sections of the ground are called Geo Panels, and they contain spiritual power that make up the Netherworld. Units that stand on Geo Panels are affected by the these powers.

Example 1:
The ATK of units on these Geo Panels are increased!

Example 2:
More EXP is given to units standing on these Geo Panels!

◆Crystals of Spiritual Power, Geo Symbols!

Geo Panels grant many different kinds of effects, but it's not actually the Geo Panels themselves that possess the effects. It is actually the Geo Symbols that provide the effects to the Geo Panels.
Geo Symbols are crystals made of spiritual power that fuel the Geo Panels.

If there are multiple Geo Symbols on the same color of Geo Panels, they will all grant their effects to all Geo Panels of that color.

◆Use Geo Panels and Symbols to Get the Upper Hand!

Geo Symbols & Geo Panels, when combined, provide Geo Effects.
There are both positive and negative Geo Effects.
Place your units on positive Geo Panels and drive off your enemies!

◆Throwing Geo Symbols!

You can Lift and Throw Geo Symbols.
You can add multiple effects to one color, remove negative effects, or give them to enemies. The combinations are endless!
Geo Effects can be really powerful, so Throw to your heart's content!

◆Clearing Geo Symbols!

You can destroy Geo Symbols to get rid of them!
You can attack them from far away to remove negative Geo Effects.
When a Geo Symbol is destroyed, the color of Geo Panels that it was on will change to the Geo Symbol's color.
Units that are standing on those Geo Panels will take damage when they change.

◆Destroying Geo Symbols Can Greatly Increase the Bonus Gauge!

You fill the Bonus Gauge by attacking enemies or using items. When you finish a battle, you will gain items according to how many Bonus Gauge Levels you attained. But you can also fill the Bonus Gauge by destroying Geo Symbols!

When Geo Symbols are destroyed, they change the color of the Geo Panels they were on.
The more Geo Panel colors you change, the more the Bonus Gauge will get filled.
Depending on how you place the Geo Symbols, you can create chain reactions that will massively fill the Bonus Gauge all at once!
